Sonos Sub Gen 3 Review - I Didn't KNOW What I Was Missing

I needed to review the Sonos sub gen 3 because I've become addicted to buying speakers and this is supposedly the piece that ties it all together. The problem though is the exceptionably high price point. Is it worth the cost?

Watch my Sonos sub gen 3 review and find out now.

Just a note to say, thanks for the review. I've just ordered and look forward to receiving it.

I started with the Beam Gen 1 and later added IKEA Symfonisk rear speakers to my office LG OLED 55C1. It took over a year before I added the Gen 3 sub and WOW! I didn't realize what I was missing until the sub was added. A noticeable improvement in sound quality with just 5.1 audio format. The wife and I ended up watching more movies in the office compared in the our main TV room LG OLED 77C1 with the Atmos capable Nakamichi 7.2.4 system (our great room shaped exactly like yours). I did upgrade the Office Symfonisk rears to One SLs and didn't notice much of change with sound quality. The One SLs look better and easier to place with the smaller footprint. I don't think most folks could tell the differences between the Symfonisk vs One SLs in a blind test in home theater mode?

Just went for broke and replaced the Nakamichi with the Arc, dual Gen 3 subs, and Fives as surrounds just after X-mas. Fantastic sounding system and it doesn't dominate the room with components/speakers/wires like my wired Nakamichi. The only thing extra I did was hard wire the Arc into my router because I was getting some slowdown on my wi-fi network when streaming/surfing.

Side Note: make sure it says Dolby Digital 5.1 in the smartphone app for best sound quality. I had to set my TV to HDMI bitstream (not PCM or auto) to get the 5.1 Dolby.

Have arc, 2 ones for rears and sub gen3 in living room and love it . I sold my wired Klipsch towers and bookshelves total of 11.2 home theater. I know it’s very different type of sound, but I love the clarity of Sonos NO REGRETS

I was on fence about sub mini & gen 3. Going straight for the gen 3 after this video. Thanks!

Had bad experiences setting up the systems on the app but got it all working in the end. Saw the Sub at Costco and I want it!

Awesome review! I enjoyed all of your attention to detail, and you got right to the point. I was on the fence about buying this sub and couldn't justify the cost of purchasing one. But, after watching your review, you closed me on the sub. I just ordered my Sonos Gen 3 from Best Buy and I'll be picking it up in the next hour

I understand the Sonos itch. My cousin talked about how good the Beam 2, Sub mini and 2 Ones as rears were for his parents…so after doing my own research I bought the Arc, Sub mini and 2 ones as rears in my living room…really enjoyed that, so I put a Beam 2 and Sub mini in my family room…then I bought a Move to take to work/move around the house (it’s also how I found your channel)…then the Era 300s came out 🤯

Moved my Ones to be rears in my family room and set the Era 300s as rears with my Arc and Sub mini for a full 7.1.4 setup that I’ve been craving since Dolby Atmos became commercially available

As a audio-newb, your descriptions in this video were poetic and convincing

Hi, I just watched a lot of review videos about the Sub Gen 3 because I wasn't sure if it would be worth it (not because of the value and quality, but for the price), but with your video, I felt that you were talking to me the whole time, especially at the end! XD
In the holidays I saw that Costco is going to put it on a deal discount, so I will try to take it XD
Very awesome video, also very funny to watch, thanks for your review! 😀

Awesome vid.. thinking of going Sonos for main living area and leave the SVS and Martin Logan subs for the theater. Was skeptical about the Sub Gen 3 but long as it hits around 45hz with a decent SPL, I think that’s ok enough for streaming shows and an occasional rom com downstairs.. great review! Thanks 👏🏾

I have the Arc, Sub gen 3 and two Era's 300s for surround. The first time I heard them I cried! It was a beautiful feeling 😅

Got the arc for Father’s Day now just sub mini. It’s amazing. Now Im already thinking about the era 300 for next Father’s Day. But my wife is ok with watching with the basic tv speaker and 720p content.

I’ve just jumped on the Sonos bandwagon. Currently still sat in boxes in my bedroom are.. 2x Era 300’s. Sonos Arc and the sub gen 3. Just waiting for the new oled tv to turn up, before I hook it all up… can’t wait!!!

Great video. I had the same experience. The look on my kids'' face when the bass hits watching Dune was worth the cost... almost.

Nice video. I currently have the arc, gen3 sub and just added a single era 100 to tie in my turntable. Next will either be a pair of 100’s or 300’s for rear surrounds - probably the 100’s for price and aesthetics. Also going to replace a few Amazon echo speakers around the house with 100’s.

I got the Sonos itch 😅 setup in living room Arc, 2x sun gen 3, 2x era 300 for rears upgraded from the fives. Bedroom beam gen 2, sub mini, 2x fives.

I definitely have the sonos itch. One room is Beam, 2 Ones, and Sub Gen 3, One room is just a One, My Office is two IKEA bookshelf speakers, and recently added another Beam Gen2, Two Ones, and a Sub Mini. The Sub Mini is a really solid performer a well. Think a move is in the future for outside. I also have helped folks install Sonos in their houses and have a house we utilized multiple Sonos amps for in ceiling speakers and paired them to Beams with TVs. Yes its addicting but getting rid of the old setup with wires and ability to play in every room seamlessly with an easy to use app with the sound quality they produce makes this a worth while addiction.
