I'd avoid Echo Park if possible. It's a well-known gangbanger hangout place especially at night.

Tons of homeless millennials at echo park. A lot of people in tents there.

I was going to suggest Clifton's Cafeteria but its name has been changed and it's no longer welcoming tourists.
