Quick & Easy Silver Wire Inlay Tool

Today we will be taking a look at a Quick & Easy Silver Wire Inlay Tool. The tool works the same way as the silver wire inlay tools made by Joe Keeslar M.S., but this tool is quicker and cheaper to make. The tool is made from a pin vise that already comes in a jewler's handle or graver handle. It only requires one cut on the cap and then it is able to accept moddified X-Acto blades. These tools can then be used to make silver wire inlay in wood.

I used golf balls for handles. Drill a hole, cut the exact handle down, and epoxy the two together. Cheapest tool ever.

Thanks for the "rest of the story." I saw a maker using that same tool and all he mentioned was grinding the blade tip profile. The cut off wheel on the Dremel is the other half of the mod.

are you just modifying number 11 blades? IF so are you sharpening each side or only one?

I made about 12 different sized ones of these about 20 years ago using exacto holders. The one you made does not hold the blade straight, and even then you align it properly it could slip and it's job ruined maybe 🍷

Where did you get it? I found one on Amazon, but the shipping takes a month, and there are no reviews, so I don't know if it's reliable.
