Mexican Agave Lager | Behind the Brew

Показать описание
Combining a refreshing light adjunct lager recipe with distinctly Mexican agave, Mexican Agave Lager is one seriously satisfying beer. This uncomplicated recipe produces an elegant, easy sipping lager finishing dry and crisp, with delightful flavor complexity: herbaceous hop and grainy malt character laced with striations of mildly honeyed agave charm. NB R&D brewer Brad Segall covers what agave is and what it brings to the beer, details more of the process for extract and all-grain brewers, and delves into how the agave, Tettnang hops, and Mexican lager yeast come together for a surprisingly complex beer.

My first homebrew was a kit which I added agave nectar to in order to increase the ABV. It tasted a little like tequila. Was pretty good, but I thought it tasted more like a cider or a spirit malt than a beer. Fun experiment, but I like beer to taste like beer, personally.

Just ordered and bottled this. Have yet to taste it. Swapped the yeast out with Lalbrew's Novalager hybrid yeast for higher temperature fermenting. Will let you know how it goes.

I ordered this all grain kit along with Crystalized Lime for kinda a margarita theme. When is the best time to add the crystalized lime?
