This might be the best show from the 80s. It still stands up today.

Johnson really gave his all in that role. You can tell he really was invested in the show.

I visited my Family in Miami October 1987 (I'm from the UK). I will never forget it!
As soon as me and my Sister came out of the Airport, I said to her "This looks just Like Miami Vice"! Lol
Such fabulous memories. 😄

Johnson & Thomas were great together but the true star of the show was James Olmos. I’ll always have respect for this dude!

you cannot imagine the cultural impact of this show. you had to live thru the 'before' and 'after'.
one thing i loved: michael mann had an unusual and interesting taste in music. both this show and his movie 'manhunter' used a very little known british band named 'shriekback'. one of my favorite 80s band, my respect increased exponentially when i heard them and some others that weren't well known at the time.

Crockett's 11 shot Bren needed a mag change every shootout, but Tubb's 5 shot Smith never got reloaded, ever .

I always thought that it was like leaving everyday life and entering another world when the show was on every week. Definitely had a vibe all its own.

I went to college in 1985-86. I remember going to Miami Vice parties where the dress code was white linen pants and pastel t-shirys. White linen jackets were optional. Drinks were pink lemonade and vodka and/or gin cocktails. They really messed you up. Although we were in Montana, we partied like we were in Miami in February.

Don Johnson was asked what he thought of the 2006 movie? He replied, " I didn't see it. And from what I hear, a lot of other people didn't see it either. "

I still think the Pilot episode should have been shown in movie theaters. It was that good. Especially the “In The Air Tonight” part of the episode.

So many cameos, change the way TV was shot, and how music was used in movies and TV in a way not advanced since Dennis Hopper used popular music in Easy Rider to incredible effect.

I don't think the show would have been successful without Philip Michael Thomas imo. JS. People were watching him also as well as Don Johnson

I clearly remember the news at the time (back when they were actually journalists) doing a series on the real Miami Vice cops. The real cops' reactions to the Ferrari-driving, fashonista TV versions of themselves were legendary. 🤣
