Since its founding in 2008, Airbnb has changed the way people travel and stay in new places around the world. In this fireside, Greylock's Reid Hoffman sits down with Airbnb co-founder and Chief Product Officer Joe Gebbia to talk about doing things that don't scale, designing for trust, and creating a company culture that inspires their team and community.

This fireside was recorded at The Scaleup Offsite, an event focused on scaling companies co-hosted by Greylock Partners and YC Continuity.

When I truly value something I’ll advertise it. And everyone values effort and quality. You guy punched through all gutting experiences and became AIRBNB

I am happy to hear that they utilized the customer feedback loop. It seems 4 years of business school wasn't a complete waste of time since this was reiterated in my 1st year courses. Interestingly, I have seen in many of the case studies in my business textbooks where companies that become very large over time forget to use or utilize basic business principles and tools such as the customer feedback loop and surveys/feasibility studies. You really seem to can't escape 1st principles of anything, whether it's commerce or anything else.

I think interviewers should interview for half of the allotted time and give the other half to the audience. I don't the audience gets into opportunity to ask questions.
