Love how John lets everyone know from the beginning that these aren't his thoughts about how to live but he is declaring this Eternal Life that's connected to the Father and he has heard, seen and touched.

Love how straightforward the whole book is.

Thank You Pastor Darren, for this Wonderful, and self discerning Word. Thank You for explaining this passage so clearly and insightfully. How truly important it is for all of us to be sure that we remain in the light, as God the Father is light, as is his Son our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. How carefully we need to be, to make sure we do not view our salvation as trivial, but through Christ, our very eternity is at stake, and whether it will be an eternity in heaven with God, or in hell without God. With that, why would we ever wish to risk anything that could jeopardize our being with God forever.

First John 1 (especially v.9) is one of the MOST misunderstood (and thus mistaught) Bible passages I've ever encountered in my 40 years as a Christian. However, you seem to be on the right track, more so than most everyone else.
Do you have an exegesis on the entirety of First John 1?
