Romans 8: 1 "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." Thank you, Jesus, for covering me with your blood at Calvary.

I have only just begun my journey with the Lord late 2018, I'm 56.
I worry so much that he just won't forgive me, that I'm not good enough, yet I know that he loves me .He's walked with me through so much in my life, I just never realized that till now and what you just said? Slapped me right in the face! Thank you! I needed that! I think it is what has been holding me back this past year because I keep questioning whether or not I have been forgiven .I have watched dozens of your videos and I can't get enough of them, I'm legally blind and I can't drive and I'm unable to get to church, because I have no family here, you are my church And I just can't thank you enough Mr. Farley! God-bless you!

To confess sins is to confess Christ. He has become sin for us, he has taken our sins into his body and we are God's righteousness in him.

I had reservations about this at first, and yes, I was raised Catholic, after study of Hebrews, and 1 Timothy I have come to the conclusion that you are understanding that verse correctly. Thanks for putting this in perspective, even after knowing that I was forgiven missed this completely as many others have as well.

In the historical context 1 John 1 was written to Gnostics who didn't believe Jesus had come in the flesh and they believed they had no sin.

So I'm a born again Christian I trust in Jesus Christ alone. And I sin daily! Because as humans we fail in the eyes of God constantly (Romans 3:10, 3:23) so those sins that I commit I'm not supposed to confess?

the vast majority interpret this as parental forgiveness. The likes of Charles Stanley, John Macarthur to name a few. They claim this was written to believers and confession for sin(s) is in the present tense(something we Christians must do continuously) to maintain fellowship. In 1 John 2:12 the author uses the perfect tense for "forgiven"while speaking to "My little children". In light of this verse, one has to conclude that a believer has forgiveness at a point in time with results going on forward or forever. On the flip side if 1 John :9 is addressing believers then forgiveness comes in installments aka relative forgiveness. We know this isnt true since Paul said we have forgiveness of sins Äccording to the riches of His Grace. EPH 1:7. Others point to David as the model to follow in Psalm 32:5, 51:19. As students of the word we have to reconcile these dilemmas. In context Andrew is spot on along in his analysis that the first group is the sin denyers whom we know as the gnostics. The question then is what happens when a believer sins? Speaking from experience I feel guilt obviousely because i have offended or grieved the spirit of God living inside of me. I no longer ask God to forgive me since I am forgiven with all the benefits of his grace. Forgiven aphiemi” means “cancel, remission of the GUILT (debt) of sin…divine forgiveness. So, I ask myself, "How can this verse 1 jn 1:9 apply to me today? My conclusion is Confess what I did wrong in order to have the guilt of the act released ïn order to move forward in my walk with the Lord. The act itself was already cancelled, removed, pardoned, sent out on the cross as the word was properly deffined.

when you have to deny a verse or a book 1 john or Book of James for example and basically throw it out, you have to know your walking in darkness. Read it for yourselves and see if this is adressed to believers.

When we are forgiven we now have access to the sacrament of confession. It is arrogant to think of Christ's atonement on the Cross as our "no fault" insurance policy. Requesting Forgiveness is part of cleansing of the believer. Jesus said, "I am the vine, you are the branches, The Lord prunes or cleanses us so that we may bear fruit".

I loosen the word of 1 john 1: 8-9, 2 corinthians 6:14-15, matthew 6:24, 1 john 3:10 binding myself, my family, friends, colleagues, neighbours, acquintances, my opponents, the body of Christ in agreement with this whole message to confess one's sins in order these sins will be forgiven, while I bind myself and the body of Christ not being unequally yoked with and have any common share with any evildoer serving satan in having no forgiveness of sins, in the name and blood of Jesus Christ, amen and hallelujah!
