Make sure your potato mixture doesn’t stick to your hands after mixing

PRO TIP!!!!
boil potatoes for 30-45 minutes you can peel and then boil, just keep in mind you might need more breadcrums to keep the tortita togther or you can use 1 cup of your favorite melting cheese such as queso oaxaca

Ingredients:
for the meat mixture
1 lb lean ground beef
1 small red bell pepper:chopped
1/2 small white onion: chopped
1 jalapeno:chopped
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp thyme
1 tsp parsely
1 tsp basil
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp crush pepper
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powderr
1/2 tsp black pepper
salt I used 1 tsp
1/2 cup tomato sauce
chopped cilantro
for the potato mixture
7 potatoes:boiled, peeled
1 cup queso cotija
6 tbsp breadcrumbs or you can use 1 cup shredded melting cheese
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp parsely
2 tsp chicken bouillon
salt I used 1 1/2 tsp
oil for frying:enough to cover the tortita
cheese I used colby jack
1 serving of love 💕

I made these yesterday. I’m not Hispanic but my wife is Puerto Rican and she said that they were the best relleno de papa she ever tasted. You may think that she is just being nice. Nope. Never. I’ve slaved over dinner for hours and she walks in takes one bite and says eh, you could have done better. So honest, you gotta love it.

I've never had these before but I tried this recipe and OMG. It was beyond exquisite! I can't believe how much I loved them. Only thing different is I used queso chihuahua. Thank you so much Claudia!!!! A+ This is going in rotation. 🙏

Oh Claudia, this looks SO delicious!! I would say “save your fingers”, and slide that parchment paper right into the hot oil so you don’t need to get your own fingers that close to it! I can’t wait to try this recipe (except for the cilantro), it looks like a winner to me!! So glad I found your channel 🤩

I think I'll take this recipe and try something. I'll call it Shepherds Pie A La TexMex. instead of frying and stuffing I'm going to put the meat mixture into a pie pan and add the potatoes on top. Then I'll bake it. Its still your recipe, which sounds good, but layered and baked instead of fried. Hope it works. I love your recipes! Thanks for sharing!

My family loves papa rellenas and what I like is you can add whatever you like to it. I have been enjoying spicy food so I like that you added Jalapeño to it! My mom makes these with her picadillo and they come out so delicious!

That looks so good. Last time I had that was 20 years ago, the last time I visited Puerto Rico. I remember they were big and round. Tried making them a few years ago with my Tio but it didn't turn out well. Couldn't get the papas to shape right lol. I'll definitely be trying this recipe.
