AHP AlphaTig 200x

The one I am reviewing in this video was sent to me several months ago and I wasn’t able to make the time to get it out and weld with it for quite a while.

In fact, so much time passed that AHP has since come out with a newer version that has higher pulse capabilities. ( the new 2016 version has 2 ranges for pulse…high and low and pulses up to 200 pps)

Jody, this short overview of AC settings is probably the best explanation I've ever heard. Not sure why but a lot of the terminology just clicked for me regarding polarity and AC balance/cleaning. Thanks from someone just starting to learn, much appreciated!

after making a living Welding for 40+ years, I'm still learning everyday Jody... thank you a lot for your channel. I know there are a lot of welding channels out there, and I subscribe to several but I seen to get more out of you and your channel.
95% of my experience is SMAW and FCAW of Heavy Equipment, so heavy metal for sure. I'm really enjoying re-aquanting myself with GTAW as well as Blacksmithing. gonna spend my next 40 years mastering the finer welding processes...
Thanks for your contributions.

I've been a subscriber to your YouTube channel for a long time. Your channel is actually one of the first I ever subscribed to, I've learned a lot of great tips from watching you and now I'm your latest e-mail subscriber. I've always wanted to own a TIG so I could expand my welding skills. Thanks for all the great videos.

I do not want the welder, already have one.  Your videos are the greatest.  I watch every one sometimes over and over, always something to learn.  Thank you for being such a great teacher.

I have the original AlphaTig 200x. I have tried just about every feature and am very happy with the machine. I've used it on 100 feet of 120V extension cord to fix an aluminum dock, stick welded 1 inch steel plate at nearly 100% duty for nearly 2 hours straight, etc. Stainless, mild steel, aluminum sheet, thick AHP welder has never let me down. I'm building a TIG cooler to use a water cooled torch with it as I usually push more current and duty than the 17 torch cares for.

I'm fairly new to welding, but even before I got my mig I've always watched your videos. There is always something to learn and see when watching. Plus you can't beat those awesome arc shots lol

Just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to publish all these videos. It's pretty evident that you enjoy what you do and that really helps keep people motivated when they are learning from your videos. Again thank you.

Not registered for giveaway, just want to say that I have almost the same machine (it's called Riland's "Aurora InterTIG 200 AC/DC Pulse" here in Russia), almost same functions and ranges... It took me about 2 weeks of training on aluminum with all those settings but today I have to say that machines like that can help you to make the job just right. I'm welding old car's oil pans (20+ years old - so it takes enouth time to prepare them), cracked intake and exhaust manifolds and all that kind of stuff...
Really going okay even without the foot pedal (just waiting for it).
Thanks again Jody, you make great and very helpful videos, 90% of things I know about TIG welding I've learned from your vids... Thumbs up! ))

The slow motion really shows the action on the puddle. Very cool visual.

Hey Jody, great video as usual. I have the new model you're talking about and I love it. They did update the torch to a flex head and a much nicer and more flexible cable. Prior to using it I had never touched a tig machine but did a lot of mig. It's a great first machine and actually a good one for more experienced welders too. Good luck to your other viewers.

I've been struggling with the flux-core process for a while now, just too much heat for thin steel. Built up a new edge on an old axe head but spent some time blowing out the metal that was there before getting it built back up!

Been wanting to start tig welding with its seemingly universal abilities but the best deal near me is ~$1400 for a used Diversion 165! That's alot of cheddar for something that can't even weld 1/4". Also, it doesn't have a digital readout, manual AC balance or pre/post-flow controls.

I've learned so much from your videos that I know all the settings & what the knobs mean, they don't intimidate me. Don't really want a pure novice machine like the Diversion and even that is straining the budget to the max...

your videos got me through my welding c, b, a tickets... loved seeing what it looks like vs being told how it should look from an instructor....
I own almost all your video series now for my own reference video library! :)

I've had this machine for several months now and still haven't figured out how to get it set exactly right for aluminum. I'll try the settings you are using the next time I use it and see what happens! Keep the excellent videos coming Jody! ☺

I have this unit, and have had my balance at 50%... Now I know why my tungsten keeps blowing out! Thanks Jody.

sweet count me in. I do not own a welder and this would be a great first Tig. Love your vids and have been watching them non-stop since my buddy helped me with my first welding project. I've learned so much from your videos and have a ton of practice to do. Can't wait to own a machine and not have to ask my buddy to come over to practice with his.

Thanks for all of the hours you have helped me by making great videos.
All of that and now you set up a give-away, very nice. I've had the pleasure to weld with this machine, both steel and aluminum, and it is a hardy welder. The pulse is nice even a low current. Thanks again for a great instructional video!
