GTI stays with you even after you have children. You can fit a whole foldable cart for 2 kids there. BMW you have to rid of it at least until your kids know what fun driving is.

The new 1 series is now a copy and paste boring fwd with a 4 cylinder engine just like the golf. At least bmw did something different which is why we all loved it.

I had both, and the BMW is more fun to drive…but it broke down and it was *expensive* to repair it. The golf still runs today and will probably do so even when it’s current owner sells it to the next guy, and then some…

I’d honestly be happy with ANY of those two, as I don’t have a car. I would, however, sleep better at night with the Golf, considering the build quality and cost of spare parts of the Beamer.

I love the torque of my Golf, even with it being the base model at near 200 lbs of torque it's a lot of fun to drive.

Those GTI’s are sweet, but I don’t think that’s a fair comparison either way, no one is buying either of those cars with storage space in mind.
