Last week we talked about why Hulk's pants are purple, and you guys had a lot to say. Most importantly, HOW DO HULK'S PANTS STAY ON WHEN THE REST OF HIS CLOTHES RIP OFF??? We also talk about how colorblind comic readers perceive Hulk's color scheme, and a fun twitter conversation about the movie rights for Marvel characters. Let's get to it!

You guys leave some AMAZING comments on our videos! Every Monday, Scott replies and responds to them in Tales From The Comments!

Back when the Hulk was initially introduced, he wasn't as big as he is depicted today in the comics. Later, when I was a kid reading comics in the 70s/80s, his height was expressly stated as being 7 feet. At 7 feet tall, it was plausible that his pants wouldn't rip completely away. Now, he's depicted as between 10-15 feet tall in the comics (about as tall as Alpha Flight's Sasquatch used to be) and there's really no way normal pants wouldn't rip completely off.

If he has special pants that don't rip then why not make a whole outfit from the stuff. Then none of them would rip.

Don't wrack your brain too much on the colorblind/purple/blue pants thing. Remember, if these guys see the Hulk's pants as blue, then they also see the _villains'_ violets as blue. They probably get the concept of Hulk symbolically framed as a baddie without much confusion.

Hulk's pant must be approved by the Comics Code Authority, like She-Hulk's.

Can I just say, I find the whole colorblind and seeing Hulk as green and blue rather than green and purple as a fantastic analogy for some people seeing the hero inside Hulk (hero blue) rather than the monster (villain purple). That's just awesome to me, like people just can't even see the villain at all, rather than seeing past it. Brilliant.

In hindsight, there's kinda a Civil War II spoiler in the thumbnail... Man, I gotta get better about this stuff.

Big fan of that Frankenstein comment tread, it taught me something that I didn't even know I wanted to know

His pants were also hit by Gamma Rays, and their fabric strength scales in proportion to Hulk's anger

I've got the same feelings on spoilers as you, all about the journey! (I also know someone that reads the last page of every book before they start it... and I respect that.)

Thanks for clarifying the thing about the legal stuff at the end! It was kinda vague in the video and I ASS-U-ME'D there were big lists, but it's good to know!

Thanks for all your videos, you're one of my favorite YouTubers!

I agree with you about spoilers, Scott. I respect people but i sometimes have to beg for people to not hold back. sometimes when people avoid spoilers they also avoid making sense

I still maintain Deadpool is an X-Men character given that the majority of his history (when he wasn't acting solo) he was hanging out with Cable, X-Force, and various other X-books. It wasn't until recently, long after the Fox deal was made, that he became more solo.

It's nice to see someone else who has the same approach to Spoilers as I do. I just watched the Legends of Tomorrow Free Will video and it makes me want to watch LoT. It's the journey, not the destination.
And I've seen studies that show spoilers add to people's enjoyment of a work because they can be more observant.
(I will say I don't like spoilers when there are 'twists', mostly because I see *finding* the twist as a challenge)

For decades those pants were held on by the almighty power of the CCA.

On the topic of the colour of Frankenstein's monster, there's a very good reason for the creature to be yellow. An exsanguinated body takes on a light greyish hue. Embalming fluid is dyed to put a rosy colour back into the body. The yellow is likely jaundice caused by dysfunction of the normal metabolism or excretion of bilirubin, a byproduct of the breakdown of hemoglobin. When bilirubin comes in contact with formaldehyde, it turns from yellow to green. Doctor Frankenstein would need an unembalmed body to bring back to life, so the best way to make sure they're not preserved is to pick one that's yellow.

I honestly agree that with Scott about spoilers.

It's like seeing your future self and hearing everything good that will happen, but you know that you will never know when it will come.
