Best Overdrive For Marshall Class 5

Hi there.
Today I´m testing a few different overdrive pedals with my Marshall Class 5.
This Marshall is a great sounding little guitar amp that is loud enough for small stages and both looks and sounds amazing!

The tube screamer really does its job with this one. I would probably go further and try to find a Metal Screamer because you can obtain more treble out of it, these are usually lower mid focused so it would benefit it.

I must say at those 4 pedals I feel the boss sd-1 sounds the best

I have a Class 5 and love it. My opinion is, crank the amp and use the guitar’s volume for your OD taste.

OCD gets my vote. And I have this amp plus the tube screamer and the OD1

I think it needs distortion like ds1 to bring back those highs. As is mid is really strong before adding ODs

Should leave the OCD in the box and try a Blues Driver. Remember to roll off the bass.

Thanks, I have a self-built Marshall class 5 from Tube-Town, it sounds a little muddy but I am not sure if that has something to do with the bright cap on volume pot, on the kit says optional 🙂 anyway I have tested with Boss DS-2 which I believe is the same as the DS-1 and it sounds pretty nice when going on heavy distortion

How does the class 5 sound in the room? Does it sound farty or boxy at all?
They sound good mic'd up on youtube but im not sure i will like the 10" speaker, im used to 12". This is for home use only i should mention. Cheers

hello, I have the same amplifier bought a few days ago.. and in the upper part where there are controls, I smell a slight burning smell.. do you think it's the normal smell of valves? Thank you

NIce demo and playing but you're missing the point of having a Marshall, its sacrilegious to use an overdrive pedal with one of these, just use the amp itself and get your overdrive sound. Like Clapton, Van Halen, etc...
