Wanna know how to stop your sugar addiction?

🍩Incorporating sugary snacks into your diet in moderation is actually the key to overcoming sugar addiction. (Which actually isn’t really an addiction in the first place...)

❌Paradoxically, attempting to completely banish sugar from your diet often intensifies cravings and fuels the « addiction » further.

✅If you actually allow yourself to eat sugary treats, you begin to dismantle the allure of the forbidden. This approach leverages the psychological principle of habituation, where repeated exposure to a stimulus reduces its impact over time.

🍭Knowing that you have the freedom to enjoy sugary snacks whenever you want strips away the notion of scarcity, diminishing the hold sugar once had over you.

🧁This shift in mindset helps create a healthier relationship with sweets and food in general, ultimately empowering you to regain control and find balance in your diet.

The cravings go away when you don’t have any. If you are truly addicted moderation will never be enough

When you have an addiction moderation is almost impossible literally

Having a sweet tooth and having sugar addiction are not the same, you can’t just stop so easily

Treat sugar addiction as any other addiction. You cannot expect for an alcoholic to stop their addiction by drinking smaller amounts of alcohol.

That is not true. When i dont eat any sugar it becomes easy for me to control myself while when i have some sugar i just cant stop after

This is like telling an alcoholic to stop drinking whiskey and drinking beer instead. Absolute nonsense.

It's just gonna fuel the addiction even more because when you're addicted one normal portion isn't enough. You'll just be frustrated and end up binging.

What if i can't do moderation and if i buy a box of cookies i eat them all and get very sick

For some people, none is better than some. Your advice is ok for someone who likes sweets. Sugar/carb sensitive addicts cannot moderate. It's physiological and usually genetic. Runs in families.

as someone who has a sugar addiction, this DOES NOT WORK. i will literally eat a whole bag of candy if it is in my house. just one cupcake? more like the whole tray.

if you have an addiction, you need to tackle it head on. if you know having sugar around you will make you obsess over it STOP BUYING IT. it’s like telling an alcoholic to “just have 1 drink”

How to stop your addiction to meth: smoke meth in moderation 👍

I’m really trying to do this, and I found that if I do a sweet dessert after my meals I tend to be less likely to binge eat a lot of sweets and cakes. That sweet dessert can be fruit, berries, a slice of cake, a scoop of ice cream or some chocolate. This has shifted my focus from “this is bad I feel guilty” to “this is okay, I am mentally satisfied”

I don’t think she understands the level of addiction needed to say you have an addiction. Sounds like she means a sweet tooth.

when i had a full blown sugar addiction, as in skipping meals to eat an XL chocolate bar damn near everyday, it was because of a candida yeast overgrowth.

So true, the more you restrict and avoid certain groups of food, the more you unintentionally crave for it😊❤

Doesmt work for evrrybody 🤦‍♀️ i jave to avoid all sweet taste, because just a hint, and i will spiral into sugar binges for days and weeks like an animal. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, I’m incapable of eating just a little sugar. So maybe do some fruit?

Yeah, no. If you can do that then you don't have an addiction. For me, quitting sugar is harder than quitting smoking. If I had incorporated a cigarette here and there into my life I'd still be a smoker. If I eat sugar I can't stop, I'll eat the whole bag of whatever it is. I'll be just as unhealthy as if I were still smoking. The only way to beat sugar addiction is to cut it out completely. In a few weeks the cravings will be less intense and soon it will hardly bother you anymore. Just like smoking.

Moderation Management didn't work for the lady who founded MM for alcoholism. She ended up killing someone while drinking and driving. She ended up committing suicide. Sad story.

When you’re an addict you CAN NOT eat sugar in moderation!!!! It’s like telling an alcoholic to have only one glass every day/once a week. You CAN’T do that!!!
