News Anchors Break Down in Tears Over Texas Shooting

CNN's Erica Hill and Fox News' Ainsley Earhardt break down on air as they report on the Uvalde, Texas mass shooting. When Hill was asked how she was doing following Tuesday's tragic event, she couldn't hold back her tears. For Earhardt, she choked up speaking about the grieving families of the 19 children who were killed.

This shooting has affected me in a way I've never been affected before, because the victims were innocent children who were trapped in that room with that killer for a hour or whatever, begging for help over and over and over, while "trained professionals" were just outside the door. I feel deep sadness and disgust as well.

Your tears are for murdered children. Let the tears flow. You would not be human if you are not crying over this sad tragedy. We are all crying. And pray for the children. I’m not a praying person, but I pray that these children will be remembered and still loved. They still have parents. The bond is still there. And the community needs to be there for the families even after months go by and some level of normalcy returns. And don’t be afraid to mention the child. Most parents are grateful for their children being remembered.

How do people have the nerve to kill kids. Kids who didn’t even live life to its full potential. Any of those kids could have been successful in life. The teachers could’ve had more knowledge to share. The parents have to wake up knowing that they aren’t going to wake up their kids for school or on their birthdays or Christmas it’s just sad. Every single school shooting, since Columbine, has effected us and shattered our hearts. But, there’s something different about this time, in the sense that people are overwhelmed with anger. One child is one too many, but we hear about these tragedies over and over. WHY?! Why wasn’t anything changed after Columbine? Why are we at the point where children are now saying “ WHEN it happens again “? After all the speeches, condolences, prayers and expressions of heartbreak, how long will it be this time… before the Texas tragedy something we remember as “ just another school shooting”?! This isn’t something that we should numb ourselves to. Children shouldn’t have to go through active shooter drills! Shooter shouldn’t be able to get into schools! If our government doesn’t fund schools so they are bulletproof and safe, if the gun laws don’t change… citizens are going to start taking matters into their own hands. Parents were trying to rush into the school in Texas, as the police waited outside for one hour! Next time.. this won’t be the situation.
