Jordan that was a good job at explaining everything, I retired in 2016 as a supervisor and what I would tell a new CCA was be aware of your surroundings and be safe, I would also have the carrier that is casing to make sure to simplify the mail so the carrier understands where there going, I also would visit that carrier and walk with the carrier and try to help them because I carried for 10 years and I would make sure they had my cellphone number because I needed to know if they needed help and for me 2:00 pm was call time if you needed help. I know that today’s supervisor just look at there reports but unless you’ve actually carried for an extended period you don’t get it. Stay safe and remember street time and office time, if you go outside and load parcels then punch out to street time and then punch back in to office time, saves that discussion with a supervisor when there questioning your times when they are walking around with Dois reports😉

Follow the mail, line of travel and right turns. Case your flat’s first (ffs) then your letters. So letters are in front of magazines. Follow the dps but pay attention to flats because flats can skip numbers ( houses) . Deviate any big packages along the way or after your done with the relay. Case all spurs with your flats and letters in the office. Less crap is more. Set up your packages in the truck in order of line of travel remember to take right turns and watch out for turkeys and people asking for there mail right when you arrive at a cbu

today was my first day on my own after my ojt i was so nervous! but i ended up doing my cut ins on time! They literally just throw you out there but the DPS was my map. To all new ccas the thing thats hardest imo is the different types of endorsements you gotta do and the situations in which to do it. Also what i found easy was to write down the first parcel number and the last number down so when you get to the route youll know if it starts either in evens or odds/ low to high. when you deliver the first package you remember the next on in line.

Thank you I'm on day 7 of mail carrier and the way I've been loading the back was only by sections/number. It was and is a complete nightmare to navigate letters, flats, and parcels all in different locations in the truck. I worked 11 hours today and I was completely overwhelmed by the route. Being a newbie, you know we get a different route each day, today absolutely murdered me. Thanks for the tips. I will sort the parcels by street addresses only. Another thing that hurts me badly is the letters and flats are in different tubs. It's insane.

Teach that the scanner has a gps built-in and NOT to use your personal cell phone regularly for gps. Top right-hand corner, 3 lines, input addresses, let the scanner guide you.

lol I’ve been doing this for 5 years. Was cca for 2 years. All I see are negative comments about the job. I mean it’s work. No different from other jobs. Show up..do the best you can..don’t call in. Don’t give managers a reason to pick on you. Just like any other job. I just think folks don’t want fo work lol.
