S8 S8+ S9 S9+ S10 S10+ S10e Note 10 Note 10+ This is a video about my story with the IP68 rating of my Samsung galaxy S9. If you like our video, Take a moment to subscribe it help us growth tremendously. Thank you.

I thought like you all that my phone will do the 30 minutes without breaking apart. I spend a day on the beach and a total of 1 hour taking pictures and videos that day alone. At the sunset my phone was black and not working.

Both links explained what the IP rating is, but none says that the water need to be fresh water. The truth is that in sea salt water even without submersion you smartphone can end up like mine in this video. These manufacturers need to be specific on water type of water the IP68 works. In beach water you will probably lose you phone quicker.
To recap: IP67 means the unit can be dropped into a body of water up to a meter deep for half an hour, while IP68 guarantees protection in water up to 30 meters deep for the same period of time. Both are resistant to dust

Devices backed by an international standard rating of IP68 are deemed fit enough to withstand dust, dirt and sand, and are resistant to submersion up to a maximum depth of 1.5m underwater for up to thirty minutes.

For EVERYONE who is making the argument about it being "water resistant" and not "water proof". Specifications on Samsung's site states the phone is "Water-resistant and dustproof based on IP67 Rating, which tests submersion up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes. Not shockproof." It does not state a difference between salt water or regular water. It is not common knowledge that IP67 tests are done in lab settings (i.e. distilled water with no know, the kind of water you would NEVER find yourself swimming in. The phone is also tested in "standby OFF. The misunderstanding isn't because any of us are idiots, didn't research our phones properly, or otherwise....it's because of false advertising. This phone was shown in various commercials being dropped into water (fish bowl) with the phone screen showing and it being on, which is not the same as their claims. My phone was doing the same thing as ersbit's phone and I had only taken it into shower, near hot tub, and so on, but it did finally stop working after I took it with me into the ocean (less than 3.3ft underwater). Water with any electrolytic chemicals would cause this phone to break if it gained that includes pool water. You can take your phone to a UBreakIFix and they can test to see if it will take any amount of charge through a pretty quick diagnostic. If it doesn't draw anything, your phone is dead....no point in replacing anything. If it will still take a charge like ersbit's phone, you still have a chance to save it by replacing parts like the screen lcd and digitizer or charging port (which are surprisingly cheap). I would not recommend using a commercial heat gun though. I'd also recommend getting some precision tools pry tools other than a guitar pick. If you end up cracking the back of your case (easy to do, it's thin tempered glass), you can order a replacement for cheap too from places like RepairUniverse.com and so on. There's a law firm in chicago that might be taking up a class action lawsuit against Samsung for this....I hope they misleading commercials and claims like this cost consumers more than just $500-1000, but precious memories and important documents saved on those phones they will never get back. Yes, I backed most of my stuff up to the cloud, but not everything sync'd considering I was in international waters and had global setting off.

There are a few steps to follow so you do not mess up your phone. Do not dive with your phone causing unnecessary pressure . If you decide to place your phone into the sea, MAKE SURE you carry 2-3 bottles of drinking water so you can rinse it after you go out of the sea. DO NOT CLEAN YOUR PHONE WHEN YOU GO HOME. Do it at the spot so the salt does not stay and stick on your phone.

There is no such thing as a waterproof phone so take this video as a warning.
Samsung phones are only water resistant to low pressure fresh water only up to 30 feet. I was at a hotel and rinsed my S7 edge under a faucet the high pressure faucet was able to push water into the phone bypassing the water resistant netting.

But after 30 minutes the display got black and mobile started vibrating. Mobile got stuck in this situation. Then I diconnected the battery from motherboard.
