How to Set Up Internet Failover with LTE Cellular Router | Teltonika Networks

The best way to solve failover is to have a cellular router for backup connectivity.
With cellular backup, you can use mobile data only when the Internet from wired sources is lost or unreliable.
With cellular backup, you can use mobile data only when the Internet from wired sources is lost or unreliable. This way, you save not only your normal business operations but also money and time.
For example, throughout the years, companies responsible for ATM deployment learned the lesson that single wired connection is just too risky and it can cost more in case of downtime rather than implementing cellular connection backup.
So nowadays, most ATMs are using industrial cellular routers, sometimes even as the primary source of connectivity between ATM and central systems of the bank.
Such routers must be highly secure, reliable and be able to establish VPN connections with advanced firewall functionality as well as support for multiple remote management protocols.

Steps to setup failover on Teltonika Networks RUTX09 router:
• Connect to your router
• Log in to your routers WebUI
• Click on Network settings and then on Failover
• Choose your primary and mobile internet connection and then turn it on.
• Click Save and Apply

Something like this would be amazing. I live in Israel (yes, the Startup Nation! / high tech superpower etc etc) and I haven't been able to buy a stable internet connection from any ISP for love nor money. One was fast but less reliable. The other is slow but slightly more reliable. But both go down for hours at a time. In just the last year, this has meant having to abandon one podcast interview and countless Zoom meetings with spotty connectivity and pulling the "can you hear me?" routine. I subscribed to both infrastructure options for a while, but ultimately decided to give up on the home internet providers and purchased a 4G/LTE router for use with a data-only SIM plan. Now I'm using a $5 Aliexpress ethernet KVM switch to manually change out connections. Obviously something like this would be far more ideal. I'll look as to whether anything like this exists in the local market here. Thank you for putting the explainer together!

Hi Teltonika! Please make sure you are clear when it comes to configuring the Teltonika Router. Your video is helpful but it was not clear whether a user or admin needed to pay for the credits in order to get the full admin feautures of the RNMS portal.

Must you have both failover and load balancing enabled? I want failover, nut no load balancing!

i've got two rut955's. the failover setup doesn't work at all on either of them. i connect the wan port to our wired ethernet provider. that works fine. i have one sim card in slot 1 which has "data connection state: connected". this also works fine. however, everything falls apart whenever the failover functionality is supposed to start working. the system does not automatically failover to 4g when the provider connection goes dead. it just hangs until you reboot the router. furthermore, when the wired connection is restored, another reboot is required to switch back to the wired connection. this means that physical, human intervention is required everytime failover is needed. that is the most useless form of failover functionality i heave ever seen and i am thoroughly frustrated with my teltonika equipment WHICH DOES NOT WORK AS ADVERTISED.

can you assist me with my RUTX50. I have a Wi-Fi 6 router from my ISP that has 1 gigabit wan port where the fibre ethernet cable connects, and 3 lan ports. how do I connect it to the RUTX50 so that should my ISP go down, the RUTX50 takes over using 5g. How do I physically link the routers. I would be very grateful if you could help. Thankyou

Is this applicable to RUT240, if yes, how to configure. The interface is different. Please advise. Thanks. - Noli

Hi, if the primary wired connection fails, does the mobile connection take a while to be operative, like few seconds or minutes, or the connection is never lost, not even for a moment?
