How to Use DosBox in Windows 7

Follow this helpful guide to learn a way to open Classic DOS applications and games using the Dos Box.

Dos Box is an Emulator program that enables you to run a DOS simulation program. By downloading and installing the Dos Box in your computer, you can enjoy classic Dos Games in Windows 7. It offers a DOS mode like interface which runs on command lines. You can use hundreds of Dos commands in it. Initially you have to configure Windows 7 DOX Box settings and mount a C drive. After that you can use it just like you'd use DOS mode. Follow this step by step guide to learn how to use dosbox in windows 7.

Step # 1 -- Download the Dos Box application

Step # 2 -- Install the Dos Box application in your computer

Once the Dos Box installation file has been downloaded, click on it and select the "Open" option from the menu to start its installation. Now click on the "Next" button, choose Dosbox components and select the installation directory from the installation wizard. Once it has been installed, close the wizard and double click on the Dosbox icon available on the Desktop in order to open the program.

Step # 3 -- Use the Dos Box to run various Dos applications and commands
Once the Dos Box application has opened, first you have to mount the "C Drive" in your hard disk. In order to do so, type in the following command:
"mount c d:dos\"
Once you have mounted it, enter the "C :" command to enable the mounted "C Drive" and configure windows 7 dosbox .Once done, you can execute all DOS Commands in Doxbox interface.

Create the DOS folder in Windows at C:\ then try to mount again.

Well, why not first unzip these files into a folder? Then run the .exe file in that folder. DosBox doesn't support archives.

SO, I fixed my problem: I mounted but said "MOUNTED NOT RECOMMENDED" And after I ended up with ILLEGAL COMMAND while trying to open the game. HOW I FIXED: I open my "Computer" than I went on my disk (C:) And created a DOS folder, I moved my game folder to inside the DOS folder. (In my case, LION). NOW OPEN your DOSBOX:
MOUNT C C:\DOS\
C:
CD LION
LION
:D

Apparently d:\dos\ isn't a directory that exists by default in the emulator .-.
What is supposed to be in d:\dos\? Am I supposed to create that folder and load programs into it or what? .-.

I wish I were a PC geek.  I am 19 years old who was never allowed to screw around with the computer so C: Directory is outdated and not in common speech.  It's frustrating.  Like learning the Dune or Clockwork Orange speak.  Why isn;t there a file load rom option?  Emulators shouldn't force me to learn an entire new language.  I just wanted to play Daggerfall.   That's all

(original path: C:\Windows\DOSBOX)

this program is great if youve used a fucking pre 80s pc absolute shit if you dont understand how the program works and are new to dosbox. scummvm is way better
