Putin also said that the current blockade should allow anyone to surrender. The problem is that the Ukraine government has ordered the Azov to stay in the plant and not to surrender. The Azov said there are civilians there. If so why are they being held there and not allowed to flee. The Russians gave them 3 opportunities, gave them humanitarian lanes 3 times, to leave already. So who is really endangering the civilians. It is the Azov. Why are you telling us half truths?

Lets be frank, the Ukrainian commander on the ground who decided to fall back and go to the tunnels should be relieved of duty..and possibly be brought up on War crimes. When Ukraine failed to break out from the encirclement more then a week ago, these beseiged should have surrendered with THE OTHER 1000+ Ukrainians that did capitulate. The suffering of children & the elderly falls squarely on that Ukrainian commander's shoulders since.

Not quite correct to say "Ukraine demanded a safe corridor". Ukraine asked for a 3rd country to remove the Azovstol fighters to a neutral site. The Russians invariably provide an escape corridor AND through loudspeakers called on Ukrainian forces to surrender and the terms of safety for doing so. When Ukrainian forces radioed Kyiv for permission to surrender, it was denied. What the Russians would not agree to was a 3rd party essentially rescuing them to fight another day.
