How to Install a SATA Hard Drive

Adding a new hard drive to your existing system is an easy way to store more data on your computer. And the installation process is fairly simple.

When it comes to modern hard drives, you won’t have a lot of different choices, and chances are you won’t end up buying an incompatible drive. If you’re installing an SSD, you’ll want to go for a 2.5-inch form factor. For mechanical drives, make sure to get at least 7200RPM. Either way, you’ll want SATA support for the easiest connection experience.

So I need a separate adapter to connect the PSU to the SSD? Or is it already attached to the power supply? I have the cable to plug into the motherboard, but I’m lacking the one for the PSU.

So you showed where to plug in the data cable the data cable on the drive but not on the computer. Pretty sure it has to plug in somewhere on the computer, But you left that very important information out.

You can't believe what we just did, I am a 2 year computer Engineer, and I made a 3 feet tall Hardware box with Hard disk drive room Packages and call 2 of my friends who is also a Compter Engineering student, and made 4 cable bus sender which connects the 10 Hard drives of 120GB each, and hook it up to what we call Bus disseminator, and connects the transition cable to the CPU. Now we have 10 Drives, disk (c:) to (L:) total of 1.6 Terrabyte of removal disk Drives.

dumb question but what are the power cable called? im going to buy a new hdd but dont have any cables, i am buying a sata already but how do i find one? im using newegg to buy them and i cant find any, only power cables for the actual pc itself
