From my latest YouTube video: Types of Rice Explained!

In this video I go through the differences between the 3 most common types of rice eaten in Asia - Japanese short grain (aka sushi rice), jasmine, and basmati rice. We cover taste/texture/aroma comparison, how to cook each type of rice, and when to choose which type of rice for your meal.

Since I major in Thai cuisine, I’ve mostly talked about Thai rice, but many have asked me over the years about other kinds of rice, so I hope this video will help clarify all those questions!

Or, cook it the Bengali (Indian?) way - the 'pasta method' as its called in the west. Add some water, boil for some time, test for al-dente, drain through lid, not _too_ thoroughly, cover pot back and let it steam the rest of the way.

I guess I'm weird. I was always taught with Jasmine rice, to use my 2nd knuckle on my finger. :)

I always use my first knuckle on any rice unless it’s Thai sticky rice

I’m bad. I do the 1 to 1 ratio with jasmine rice for my instant pot
