Or for their spoiler names, this video is about some fan-made Pokemon I call Lockemon, and they are: Bombeedel, Mollonce, Machug, Doncrete, Dangal, Ajjimajji, Goregooz, Canopriest, Boombrocks, and Dismandurr.
The sponsor even has a bonus new-lockemon reveal! Can you guess it's name?

Gnoggin, hosted by its creator Lockstin, is a show delving into the mysteries of Pokemon! (and other games sometimes too). Explaining everything there is to explain! Why is each Pokemon given the type it has? What are their origins? What is the lore of the Pokemon world and the design inspirations? And what does it all have to do with alchemy? Let's Go find out!

Doncrete actually makes a lot of sense in the terms of Kanto/1st gen as Giovanni is the leader of team rocket which main theme is a mafia and all. He’s also the Ground type gym leader, I could definitely see it being his signature Pokémon.

Personally I always liked the theory that the gengar line represented the stages of entering our dimension. It’s starts with gastly who can barely manifest itself to haunter who has hands but not their full body until gengar when it’s invited into another dimension (kind of similar to a vampire) and able to manifest fully. I feel like your new evolution still fits this even if it was unintentional. It’s like a haunter tried to force itself into our dimension and got torn up in the process. I love it

Bombeedel's ability should obviously be called "Bomb Voyage"

I like the idea that if Dismandurr was in the anime it would do the bit of just popping up saying "Disman!", but none of the characters own it, it literally just shows up

Ajjimajji: Hey, can I get some ice cream?
Random Person: Only a spoonful!
Ajjimajji: (Pulls out comically large spoon)

I can imagine there being a dex entry for Goregooz being something to the effect of 'This pokemon was believed to have existed in the far past thanks to old stories, but with the advent of trading those stories faded from time. After the loss of trading these pokemon began reappearing in hordes turning fellow Pumpkaboo into this pokemon'.
Plus it's a sort of reference to the whole ancient zombie virus from long ago reappearing in modern times trope.

I definitely appreciate the decision to make an evolution of Roggenrola that actually goes along with the initial design idea. It was so strange to me that they made a Pokémon that connected speakers with cave echoes and then just made a rock monster that doesn’t have anything to do with those elements

I always thought Phantump and Pumpkaboo were trade-evolutions because they are meant to be trick-or-treat Pokémon. A spooky surprise.

I think bombeedel's hidden ability should be either an ability that gives priority to explosion and bomb moves called Short Fuse, or an ability where it only loses half its HP when it uses self destruct or explosion, called Grenadier.

Just some thoughts:
- Ajjimajji does a great job of blending together elements of Kadabra and Mega Alakazam to create something which is obviously similar and yet obviously different
- I'm a sucker for Pokemon whose bodies have weapons built in (Magmortar, Scyther, and Scizor are all among my favorite Pokemon), so Bombeedel is right up my alley. It also does a great job of capturing the design philosophy of a lot of gen 4 and 5 Pokemon - lots of round shapes and exaggerated proportions highlighting important elements.
- Canopriest highlights one of my favorite types of Pokemon, Pokemon who take inspiration from interesting real-world biology and turn it into a magical creature
- Boombrocks looks so alien, and feels like a very natural progression from Boldore, while still being very distinct
- I really hate Conkeldurr, but I think Dismandurr would be one of my favorite Unova Pokemon if it were real. I love how it leans into the goofy elements of the design in a self-aware way.
- Gourgooz is my favorite by far, since I love pumpkins, I love grass-types, and I love zombies, and this just does an incredible job of blending all of those concepts together.

Whack being improved in rain is interesting for the origin side that you didn’t mention. Some recipes for Roman concrete are theorized to contain volcanic ash. The ash would expand when exposed to water from rain or waves, filling in cracks and strengthening itself over time.

Really like all these new designs, especially the Kalos ones. Only criticism i would have is that
1) Except Dangal, none of them have new typing, if feels a bit like a missed opportunity (Boombrocks could have been rock/normal)
2) The gut on Machug doesn't feel like it connects to it's body, and if we see it as an atlas weight, that makes two fighting type pokemons that carry big spheres in the same region

I heard somewhere - and I can't remember where - that trade-induced evolutions were basically the opposite of happiness evolution in term of lore, and I always thought this idea was neat. The reason a Pokemon evolves when traded is because it reacts to being suddenly in a new environment far away from its trainer. It's a loss of bearings/reference points and these specific species of Pokemon react to it by evolving into a stronger form as a mechanism of defense. It's similar to how, in the anime, many Pokemon evolve while "in need", when they're losing a battle or under stress.
On the opposite side, Happiness-induced evolutions happen because the Pokemon is comfortable enough with its trainer. They evolve when in an environment in which they thrive, when they have access to everything they want - food, exercice, love - and for the anime comparaison, some evolve for the needs of their trainer or to become a better protector to them.

It doesn't make sense to me that these Pokemon could only evolve because of a trading machine, because, otherwise these third stages wouldn't exist at all in the wild? So I think just the act of trading is giving these Pokemon a shock pushing them to transform, and that in the wild, they would evolve similarly when under stress, "to adapt". At least that's my understanding, let me know what you think of it!

I think it would be really cool if Dismandurr and Machug were a pair of natural enemy pokemon like Zangoose and Seviper, because of the whole strongman aesthetic of both, along with the boulder of Dismandurr and the gut of Machug being the rocks they carry to show off their strength.

I really love Gorgooz because of that whole zombie dynamic (like a town is struggling because they are such a disruptive and numerous force) and they are super resilient to most pest deterrers, but Canopriest acts as the one counter as it's 'poisonous' sap would be super effective against ghosts.

I can imagine a gym leader who constantly fights off hordes of Gorgooz to protect a town, aided by his trusty Canopriest.

I really love the concept Behind machug, I just wish his gut sort of “read” easier as a part of his body, if that makes sense? The atlas Stone motif is awesome, but with the way it’s modelled it almost looks a bit like a Big floating orb. Maybe if Machug was like holding on to his gut in a more up right position it would read a bit better, and having to constantly hold up and lug around his masterful dadbod gut would also make sense in terms of lore as to why his arms have gotten bigger and stronger.

I love the Conkeldurr line, and Dismandurr is the perfect off-shoot/evolution without parallel universes.

Man, I was NOT prepared for Dismandurr but it's definitely my favorite of the bunch. The more comedic nature of the name and concept really stands out amongst the other edgier designs introduced.

Side note, I kinda feel like the Ability name "Infanticide" might be a bit _too_ edgy. Maybe changing it to something like "Prey on the Weak" or "Easy Pickings" would be more fitting while staying true to its intended maturity level.

I've wanted a Bombardier Beetle mon for the longest time. Great to see it executed with the Karablast evo.
