Yeah, I had no intention of going to see it anyway. Just like Joker (2019), Gladiator (2000) should never have had a sequel. There's no place for it in my head. Maximus was dead at the end, you'd be hardpressed to find a more definitive ending. I didn't expect a sequel, didn't want one, and won't even watch it on streaming. I have better things to do with my time frankly.

Ridley Scott needs to retire. All he's doing is tarnishing the legacy of his early work like Alien and now Gladiator. No one was asking for a sequel to Gladiator. It was a singular film and there was no more story to tell. We're at the point now where we can't even trust the original creators to give us a satisfying follow-up anymore. We need to stop with these IP sequels decades later. Just give us something new for once and stop trying to ride the coattails of better films.

John, you are absolutely right. For example 30 years ago Hollywood wanted to make a good movie and generated money of course. Today they produce soulless stuff on bigger budgets. Money is all that counts. If the movie makes enough money, there will be also "Gladiator III".

You know I definitely liked Gladiator 1 better, but I still really enjoyed myself with this latest installment! I was worried at the beginning but I ended up liking it quite a bit!

I've been really happy seeing the channel getting content over the past few months.

Not real happy to hear the movie sucks though, haha. The moment I heard it announced, I had my doubts. Like, who was asking for a new Gladiator movie? Nobody.

I agree with everything. When all that is said, I was still greatly entertained all the way. The pacing of the new one is much better

The pacing really took a dive for me after 3/4 of the villains are dead..and there was still like 40 minutes left

Paul Mescal was a massive problem in this movie. You're told that he's 'angry and a good leader' but he just wasn't. Absolutely no screen presence at all

I am relieved that I didn’t buy the special popcorn with the gladiator helmet, otherwise I would feel embarrassed now.

I agree with everything you said in your review. I was looking at my watch halfway through the film hoping it was going to finish.
