Tons of people die, but you dont get any emotional connection to any of them. This movie was visually stimulating but that’s it. It fell off pretty hard.

Honestly agree with it completely. Denzel is an immensely talented actor and I don't think Ridley Scott pushed back on some of the trademarks some actors can have like he did at certain parts. It's hard to catch lighting in a bottle and all of the older directors are trying rather than creating something else. I think it's kind of evident about Denzel with the quick cut edit that was sloppy at one point.

If the first film is a 9, this film is a -1. It could’ve gone somewhere, but the plot relies on constant monologues, flashbacks. I spent the film cheering on Denzel to take over the empire.

4/10. Flick had a very unfinished and amaturistic feel. Scene transitions rough, no proper introductions, hardly any great dialogues and a missed opportunity to write a great script that could easily have a spin-off sequel if done right, but folks lack taste these days. The only things it had going were the fights and Colosseum scenes.

Felt like Denzel was acting in a completely movie. He was entertaining but really over the top at times.

In the first film we see Maximus's wife and son murdered by the Praetorian Guard by order of Commodus. However, we also know that Maximus and Lucilla had previously been lovers. The little boy we see talking to Maximus while he is behind bars is Lucius Verus Aurelius and we are led to believe he is the son of Lucilla and Lucius Verus (senior). However, Gladiator II reveals more about the little boy- and how he is actually the son of Maximus. It's a subltle version of "Luke, I am your father".

Denzel Washington movie contract usually he has full control of his characters. It's why I like watching his films because it's just fun to see how he will be.

This movie was alright but felt very very rushed. I mean like the CGI was horrible, the plot is alright but overdone, the action was amazing, the water scene was unrealistic. I give this movie a 5 or 6/10

I strongly recommend that before going to see this movie you use Wikipedia and Youtube to familiarise yourself with Macrinus and Geta & Carachalla and their catastrophic reign.

Denzel is goated, but i wish he would have come out in a North african accent or something to make it more historically accurate. Not some regular american accent, lol

It would have been great if Denzel would have ended up ruling with Paul living but fleeing, giving the story line when Denzel showed his branding and how he got it. It would have been a great set up for a part 3 giving Denzel’s character in real life would have been a interesting story but I guess not seeing that Denzel said he’s doing 4 or 5 more movies than he’s done lol.

Not even close! Gladiator 2 does not even come close to the emotions felt on the first Gladiator movie!
