Eugenie Bouchard calls Maria Sharapova a 'cheater'

The Canadian tennis player was in Istanbul when TRT World caught up with her and asked her her thoughts about the impending return of Maria Sharapova to competitive tennis.

Maria IS a cheater, and it's not just the drug issue.

Players are allowed to "grunt" as they strike the ball, in an effort to summon maximum energy, but Maria's screams go far beyond what this should be.

The way Maria screams until the ball is about to be struck by her opponent is clearly meant to distract and irritate the other player - not at all in the spirit of tennis's fairness.

She is cheating, pure and simple.

I liked Maria but she ruined it for me. She also tarnished the reputation of WTA and has encouraged PED use for other players. Eugenie is right and she is brave to make a stand like this. PEDs in tennis screw up everything. Why would any young player want to put their heart and doul in to pro tennis when they know they will be facing jacked up opponents
