House of the Dragon's Master Armourer Tim Lewis shows Adam the scope and detail of the weapons created for the show, starting with an ornate handheld crossbow that is meant to be wielded while on dragonback! They move on to the massive five-meter wooden ballista being constructed and examine the miniature scale model of this ballista that his team built for reference.

All that work and detail just to be shown 2 seconds on screen when ulf rides over kings landing. Dam. Very impressive build.

I love the pure joy he has on his face showing off just the model!

Can’t wait to get a closer look at the dragon saddles. The craftsmanship put into them is overlooked in my opinion.

Just that small-scale model was a piece of art in itself - wow... 😮

These behind the scenes videos are amazing. We as an audience see the finished product so seeing all the intricacy that happens which makes what we get to view is so important. Props to the props and every other department that gives us epic moments we'll never forget.

"Hey, Tod Cutler from Tod's Workshop here. Did this ballista really exist? No, but ..."

If you like this, it is worth checking out Tods Workshop. The guy made a lot of the weapons for The Witcher and has his own working trebuchet. His experiments are great.

We built an arbalist about twenty years ago using hawthorn tree trunks. It shot fence posts 200 yards through the field to the river below, much to the to the surprise of some salmon poachers. "Betty" was about 35 feet across. She used aircraft cable for a string. We abandoned her to the field after a catastrophic near fatal failure when six of the nine inch lag bolts securing the winch to her oak log center beam ripped out, whizzing past Marks (only one big enough to wind it) head, throwing winch, and fence post half way to the river. good times.

Calling out the fantastic camera work on this one. Not jumping when the ballista was fired was impressive, then getting the fiberglass molds by ducking under it was fantastic.

Just the mockup/model of the ballister "crossbow" for the larger Redkeep scene is beautiful. Looks like real brass on the mechanism parts. Wish I could work/tour their prop shop ... Thank you Adam and the Tested Crew 🖖

It's amazing how much time, effort and the craftsmanship that goes into building these props for the criminal amount of screen time they get. Just brilliant! Love it!

That model ballista is one of the things that defines just how different professionals are. If I managed to make that model I'd be done. The time and mental energy it took me to complete it would mean that I wouldn't want to touch the thing again except to play with it.

I made a big ballista using 4 skies for the limbs. Making anything what can shoot a metal rod through a car is a time well spent.

Love Adam's enthusiasm about the props

Wow, so cool that they actually made this for real, when it probably could have been easily CGI.

They spend so much money and time building props that are never even shown.
