Your list of challenges is great! I work for an ISV and in my humble opinion the flexibility is the greatest "issue" even for us: Our CEO regularly comes up with "great" ideas. We (development) tell him, that yes, it's easy to implement within a couple of days but it's going to be one hell of a challenge to support across our entire customer base.

What is in it for an accountant with needs for smart stuff like automatic payment of invocies, automatic return files from the bank, e-invoices (incoming / outgoing), automatic reconciliations, automatic VAT-returns etc. etc... often systems like this, olny focus on getting the sales persons happy with loads of information, but on the economy side, everything is made manually.
