I've had mine since day 1. 3 years later still working. It's never been this bad in terms of dust build up.

Removing those stickers on the series X actually doesn’t void warranty. Microsoft stated its fine as its basic maintenance

This helped so much, very direct and to the point.
Had my console since day one and its been thru 4 moves, multiple rooms in each home, even a road trip cross country. i had matts of dust on the bottom vents, and i keep my console clean lol.

For $9 on Amazon I got a dust cover that is water proof and an anti humidity protective shell. Every time I turn off the Xbox I wait 10 minutes and then check to make sure the fan is no longer running. Obviously you want your box set to turn completely off in power settings. After 2 years the console looks brand new inside and runs great. Nearly no dust at all. Highly recommend this. Just make sure that you have the Xbox set to completely shut down when you power off. Then allow it to cool for 10-15 minutes, so it's cool to the touch and make sure the fan is off. And you need to realize that the fan is designed to stay on for a few minutes after power off, as the components are still hot and the Xbox wisely continues to cool itself, so be mindful. Also the Xbox regardless of your power configuration will randomly power up for updates, which means the fan will turn on, therefore you're going to want to plug the power cord into an adapter that has an on/off switch, and plug it into that adapter and then plug the adapter into your surge protector outlet.

Might sound like a lot, but it literally takes 10 seconds. I do the same with my PS5 and both consoles are in amazing shape after years of heavy use. So 2 covers and two adapters ran me about $25. Dust free, moisture free, excellent care. Highly recommend this approach. Just make sure the consoles are fully powered off, cool to the touch, and cut off from active power to be safe. This will make your consoles last longer.

Just wanted to drop another thanks your way. My system is running so much better. I guess over time I didn't notice the performance loss and jitters but since cleaning it, holy crap! That's why I paid so much for it, I remember now. 😂

opened up my series x for the first time today, and I had no where NEAR the amount of dust this cat is removing from his. I think placement of your system and airflow is key to keeping dust out of your gaming system. Also a clean home, not saying his home is dirty but we make it a point to dust at least 2 to three times a week due to having two cats and two German Sheppards. Excellent video though, very thorough and well made.

Thank you so much. I got a rubber band stuck in my Xbox but I was able to get it out.

I'm not 100% sure if it would fly but... in the UK, consumer goods should be under warranty for a reasonable amount of time rather than just one year. I guess two or three years is reasonable ? Not had to test the theory yet as my X series is working very well... As is my 5 year old TV.

Thanks for the video though, i have a long hated cat and the back of my expensive blue ray player / part time gaming console is quite a mess 😂

If it’s overheating just take it apart and clean the ventilation it could be covered with dust

Great video. I've had mine about a year and a half and i looked through vents and no sign of dust anywhere. I vacuum top and back every other week though.

A terrible design flaw as the round "stand" only lifts the xbox a 1/4" fin whatever you set it on. How is sufficient airflow going to be pulled through that tiny gap .... from the top!!!

Always remove your rings before working on electronics so you avoid shorting out any components.

I want to do this because I never cleaned my Xbox (got it 2 years ago) but I don't trust myself inside my Xbox.

just took mine apart to clean out all the dust build up from 1.5 years of use. Dustier than I expected tbh now I’m thinking of trying to replace the heat sink putty but I don’t know if I’m that brave yet

Great breakdown, which PlayStation were you referring to being less complex? My series X was maybe the second easiest to disassemble fully

I think it's a design fault with the series X, same thing happend to mine but after about 3yrs. It kind of acts like an air filter. Microsoft should of implemented better filters and possibly smaller air holes.

How is tight screws heat? Heat loosens screws not tightens.

My house get super dusty because where I work is super dusty so it ends up coming home on skin and clothes so I have to clean mine out every 10-12 month I know when it needs leaning out because I'll be able to hear the fan as it ramps up as it struggles to cool the system
