If you honestly believe that I would ever accept any form of compensation for a review, you obviously don't know me at all and more importantly you have no idea how anything sponsored or paid works. If I failed to disclose something like that the FTC could fine me 40k+and my channel could get deleted, not to mention the obvious reputational damage. I have not received any compensation of any sort for this, I just liked the game and it is my goty in an otherwise underwhelming year. I did not even attend their preview event. I'm glad other reviewers have expressed their opinions about why they DONT like it, because that is how reviews work and people should see it from all angles, I said it would be divisive in this very video.

This is so wild. I only check out two game reviewers - Mortismal and Skill Up. And hearing you saying "Best entry in the series, game of the year", while Skill Up completely demolished it and says "Not recommended" is very confusing

Opinions are opinions but watering down dialogue and choices/consequences, happy go lucky tune without ANY risks is a major put off for me. No matter how shiny the combat systems and graphics.

I just wish Bioware would decide what the Qunari looked like. It is super jarring that the entire race transmogrifies almsot every game.

I dont see the point of the multichoice dialog wheel if all your choices do pretty much the same thing with no consequences... That's the biggest issue I see with this game.

Wow, opinions are divided on this. I trust Mortismal, but I also trust MrMattyplays and Skillup and they don't like the game at all. If any game was crying out for a demo, it's this one.

Personally I don’t care if a reviewer likes or dislikes a game, the important thing to me is that they explain their position in a way that allows me to make up my own mind of whether I would like the game or not. What i like about Mort is that he always gives his reasons why he liked a game but also why others may not. Im glad Mort liked this game and had fun to %100, however i don’t think I
would like this game and will probably play it only if its on game pass.

For Mort keeping it real and being able to appreciate games without following the hate mob or milking hype trains. Appreciate how you don’t over embellish games flaws or over hype strong points for the YT algorithm.

There is something about the art style that I just don't like... it feels like I'm watching the Spiderman game but modded to turn it into a fantasy game

Mort, you didn't really go into detail on the quality of the writing. Are we talking "Baldurs Gate 3" quality or are we talking "Animal crossing, on a good day?"

I only regularly follow 3 reviewers: Mort, Skillup, and ACG. One loved it, one slammed it, and one didn't get a review copy. I watch each for different reasons, but such major misalignment rarely happens. It's kind of neat.

The thing that's most disappointing for me so far from what I've seen is the fact that Rook is not really a character you can roleplay. You *have* to be the hero, and if you interact with people you *have* to be nice, or sassy at most. Now I'm not saying the game had to give us choices to be fully muahaha twirling-moustache-villain, but I thought the choices we had in Inquisition were quite good, and allowed you to roleplay as perhaps a more selfish or power-hungry character, or else a character with certain biases towards magic or other aspects of society in Thedas. Even if in my main playthrough I mostly made "good" choices, the fact that the evil or morally questionable choices existed made my choice feel more meaningful. And I did still make some evil/questionable decisions, nevertheless. Been a DA fan since 2010, and I'm not sure Veilguard is for me. I didn't play any of the DA games for the combat, but for the story, roleplaying, and worldbuilding, and from what I've seen those are lacking especially since we don't get to import enough choices from previous games.

Thank you for your review after 100%, though! I always prefer to watch your reviews even if our tastes don't align, because you go in depth about all the different elements of the game and I can make a truly informed decision on whether I want to play it or not.

A surprising 'not recommended' from Skill Up's review followed by an equally surprising 'personal game of the year and best game in the franchise' from Mortismal. I respect both reviewers and both videos make a good case for their opinions on the game. A few other up and down reviews out there too but more leaning positive. Tough to get a true read on this game.

Thankfully I had no plans to buy it early on account of being poor. So after the honeymoon phase passes and once we're well into next year I should have a better feel on where this game stands with the masses. I want to see the franchise through so I'll pick it up eventually. Really just a question of how deep a sale I wait for, lol.

The dialog options being weirdly polite is dissapointing, ngl. I don't even roleplay as a bad guy or that much of an asshole but it's nice to have *options* . After all, games are entertainment. I don't find being forced to nod and smile politely when I don't want to all that entertaining. And I do want to *choose* how to act towards a companion, beyond 3 or 4 ways to say "yeah, I'm with you". What an... unusual choice for a game where the party plays a significant role.
To be clear: I'm NOT on the... anti-everything side, It's just one aspect and I intend to formulate my full opinion by experiencing the game first.
