Absolutely fantastic! It seems an SBC can do almost anything. Edit a podcast? A video log? Write software? Connect to sensors and motors? You are only limited by your imagination!

Amazing...finally having a raspberry pi beat out other SBCs in something major - rendering time!

I have to admit, I was very surprised with the results. I was expecting the Jetson's GPU to take the win. I was expecting Raspbian's 32bit system to come in last. I'm thinking the maturity of Raspbian is giving it an edge. What a pleasant outcome for all us Pi owners!

I'll give kdenlive a try, after seeing how easy it is to configure and add transitions. Might also stop using Open Shot!
Also: it'd be fantastic for you to make a full tutorial on video editing (I don't recall you making one), your teaching style is top notch!

This was of special interest for me as I gonna to do some video editing on my 9 years old dual core notebook. This notebook now runs on Linux Mint OS. So now I know what editing software to use and even exectly how to install it. Thanks.

For anything SBC you are simply the best - editing video on a sbc! Classicly brilliant.

Thanks for revealing the mysteries of video editing for me. It wasn't as hard and complicated as I previously thought. Great comparisons too.

if CUDA rendering was used on the Nano, I'm inclined to reason that the render times would be on the order of a fraction of the Pi4. Excellent video as always.

Happy Sunday, ExplainingComputers!

Honestly wasn’t expecting Pi to take the win, other SBCs need to watch out!

Those render times were exactly the opposite of what I was expecting. I fully expected the Jetson Nano to be first, and the Pi to be last. The editing experience was in-line with what I was expecting, however.

Either way, it’s truly amazing what such inexpensive hardware can do these days! Really great video!

It is indeed amazing what these SBCs can do. I remember waiting over night for a single image to ray trace on my 386, and then if it needed alterations, waiting until the next morning.

I think you just might have ruffled some feathers amongst the Mac editing community...(lol).
I didn't know about the proxy setting so thanks a lot for sharing.
