I would say clearer, as for more output, it's hard to make that argument. I can see your point but I haven't heard that huge of a difference beside them being clearer. You can always give the speakers a better foundation as well by adding Dynamat or Hushmat to the doors.

I've been wanting to upgrade my system for awhile now, thank you for making these basics videos for beginners like me! I'm trying to understand the full picture before purchase and assembly!

I'd just do components up front and coaxials in the rear and place an amplifier under one of the seats. That way you get really clear sound but you don't compromise any of the functionality of the vehicle.

Ya your head unit should be fine. I would consider adding a mini amp like the Alpine Power Pack (KTP-445U) so you can drive more power to your speakers without breaking the bank. Just wire them up in series since they're just tweeter.

Would the component speaker setup be a good choice for dash speakers and door speakers on a 2015 Silverado? Or would they be placed to far apart?

Great video Anthony! I'm gonna be using a complete setup of JL Audio C2 coaxial speakers. Running them all off of old school PPI Power Class amps from the 90's crossed over by an Audiocontrol 6XS. ;-)

Hey Anthony, I'm running Polk 5 1/4 components and was wondering if in the future I wanted to change the woofer to a 6 1/2 could I just swap it out and leave the crossover and tweeter in place?Could I even mix brands?

I have some vibe sonic response sr50 5.25" coaxial that come with an external crossover, they have two inputs one for woofer one for tweeter

They are basically a coaxialy mounted component speaker if that makes sense? (Similar to their 3d range)

Normal coaxial filter the bass from the tweeter but the highs are still fed to the woofer as well which causes distortion or to much treble.

They will make decent bass down to maybe 45-50hz but the mid range distorts at higher volumes, if I set the hpf the mids clean up and will handle more volume.

i have been considering adding three way crossovers with either separate 4" for mids or 6.5 for lows.

Would this be viable?

Great video! It helped me understand the difference alot better and now I know I'll be better off with the coaxial since Im just running the stock head unit. Thanks! ( I found your video cause I was looking at those JL's, haha!)

I'm running alpine type s 6.5" coax speakers, running off headunit power (Kenwood KIV-BT901 22x4rms) but would like to add tweeters to raise sound stage and increase highs. I'm stuck on wiring them, do i wire in series or parallel??? Will my headunit have enough power for all these?
