If you haven't watched last week's R9 episode where I compared it to my ZX6R, go watch it. This video talks about all the hate the Yamaha R9 received after that video was launched.

My local dealership is getting 7 R9's this year and they're all already sold before they're even here. For the year. Online people will bitch but the R9 will be very popular.

Anything is a track bike if you take it to the track. Something that 99.9% of the people who "hate the R9" will never do.

Funny how people can have such strong opinion about a bike and zero experience on said bike.

Only the people on the internet are complaining about the R9. Same thing happened with 2015 R1 when it was launched. People absolutely hated the looks but now they say it's one of the best looking bikes. People trash talked about GSX8-R but after being launched it was probably the best middleweight parallel twin bike inspite of 8s already existing. People will absolutely hate change but will change their opinions once they start seeing good sales figure and good reviews about them.

R9 hands down all the way. Its literally a better bike in every way.

Everybody hating on the R9 hasn't ridden the MT09. This bike is for the supersport class. Yamaha could have changed the cams and head to make 150+hp. But then they would need to restrict it heavily to meet the supersport class. This is why the new Panigale V2 makes less hp (and probably more torque). The new supersport class is awesome and I'm glad we now have new bikes that aren't just peaky 600's

@3:55 Intentional marketing delay to build anticipation?
Annoying deposit holders AND missing prime spring selling season AND not bringing in a penny of revenue?
Pretty sure you do not "know how this stuff works".

For all the kids saying that the R9 isn't a real supersport, that it won't replace the R6, etc... Yeah, about that...

After 8 years, the Supersport lap record at Road Atlanta has been broken. Mathew Scholtz scorched the track with a 1:27.746, beating Garrett Gerloff’s record of 1:27.860(on the R6).

Online trolls that can’t properly ride hate the R9, everyone else loves it

Everything he said in this video is why so many are seeking out 20 year old used superbikes.

I’ve always liked torquey bikes, I’ve ridden a couple 600cc bikes and they felt really gutless in the low rpm’s, I love having that power on tap most of the time without having to wind it all the way up. Sure, it’s really fun from time to time, but for an everyday all situations bike, I’d rather have the torque.

R9 is a nice enough bike, like a 600 cc sport bike, only heavier and with less power and missing a cylinder. Personally, I would rather have a GSX-R750 as a general all-around motorcycle.

Exactly, there is something special about an inline 4. Couldn't agree more

A lot of people are going to be disappointed with the R9 if they don't get it tuned. I have the 23 MT09sp with Ohlins suspension. Love the bike but it was lacking in powerin stock form. I tune LS and LT car/truck engines and transmissions so I bought the Woolich Racing tuning software and OMG these bikes are so restricted. I removed the restrictions and now this bike feels like my old R1, seriously pulling power wheelies at 90mph. I live here at the Tail of the Dragon in TN. I am 30 year local here riding with the fastest guy here JR aka Antprilia YT name. I have a 24 RSV4 Factory race tune etc. The MT09sp holds its own pretty good once you get the Ohlins dialed in.

The R9 is going to be an amazing bike. Very track capable, has the torque to ride in the city, and it could definitely hit 170mph+

I can sum it up in a sentence. Why would I pay for a triple cylinder bike for the same cost of a faster, better looking four cylinder bike.
You may as well be screaming "I'm a shit rider" as you pin it down the highway because that's how it looks when you get passed by smaller 4 cylinder bikes.

I honestly think this is a briliant bike. The CP3 is a gem. I've had half a dozen 600cc i4 supersports, half a dozen literbikes, various nakes, a built ZX-12R back in the day, an XSR900, and now an Aprilia V4 and I really want one of these. I think my XSR was overall my favorite bike and favorite engine... In a modern, sporty package, its usable and perfect for nearly every situation aside from maybe squiddy highway roll racing. Add a full exhaust kit and vcyclenut flash, adjust gearing to suit the task at hand and it's just the right amount of power and delivery for nearly any street or track riding scenario. The red and white also looks absolutely 🔥

I think people are mad that they can't buy new r6's and people are asking ludicrous amounts for used ones.
The "old" 600 class doesn't make a much sense for the street (at least I don't think so), and the r9 ain't trying to be an r6.

It's not that people hate the R9, they have been sold on inline 4 engines for their top end power.

As an ‘09 R1 and ‘22 KTM RC390 owner, I hate the R9. Any used 600cc sport bike made in the past 20 years is a better bike. Plus, it replaced the R6 because of government regulations, and not because it’s better. If it brings more younger riders, then it’s ok I guess.
