The other day, Mariners top pitching prospect Bryce Miller made his MLB debut in Oakland against the A's and set a Mariners franchise record.

Also, his fastball was regarded as being arguably the best in all of the minor leagues before he was called up- turns out it may be one of the best in MLB as well.

Been watching Baseball over 50 years. This kid has elite stuff. Something about him reminds me a little of 70's hurler J R. Richard for the Houston Astros. Something about the way he carries himself. This kid could have an incredible career. It'll be fun to see what his career will be like. Off to a good start.

This is why idc for the number/rating MLB and scouts set them as. Always great to see lesser known prospects come up and succeed. Love Bryce so much

I’m just shocked he was only the 88th ranked prospect

What makes this even more astounding is that he had to pitch through the rain, which usually spells disaster for grip and pitching and quickly devolves into a carousel on the basepaths. He topped DeGromm's spin rate while pitching in the rain!

For his debut, that was an amazing game that he pitched

I’m still amazed with the fact I went to high school with this guy. He is the third guy I went to school with (high school & college) who is playing professional baseball (major & minor leagues).

Imagine what Nolan Ryan's spin rate was in his prime (1973).

Good thing you showed this to us because it doesn't look like there was anybody there in the stands.

He doesn't seem like anything extraordinary. Many guys have stuff like that now

It was 1 game, against the A's!! Let's not make him a HOF'er yet.

Dude do you know thats his spin rate or are you just guessing?

Makes you wonder what the Ms could have gotten over the off-season had they traded Flexen when his SP value was higher

Hope he has a good career. They could have 3 studs at the top of that rotation; Castillo, Gilbert and Miller would be tough to face.

Some guys just get better around better players and you'll never see how great they can be until they reach the bigs.

Spin rate is not important compared to spin axis. You can have a 2000rpm fastball with less drop than a 2500 if it has a more vertical axis

Awesome info. The day I heard he got the call I added him on my fantasy team. I have Castillo, Sewald and Munoz.. lost Ray to injury. Bryce is my new stud.
