I always love that little nod Stannis gave to Jon after he beheads Janos cuz not only he HATED Janos Slynt, this was explored a little more in the books, but he knew he was one of Ned Stark's betrayers.

*Spoilers for this scene in the book*:

I absolutely love the way it was played here, specially with Slynt crying (oh if only we had seen Joffrey doing that too!), but I wish they had played it a little bit closer to the books, because of just one thing: Jon first orders his men to hang Slynt, since that was the more common punishment. Everyone drags him outside and he begins to lose his shit, but then Jon remembers his father, walks outside and tells people to stop the execution. Slynt gets all happy and cocky, "I knew he was just trying to scare me!" but then Jon asks for his sword and decapitates him.

This is why Allister has always been one of my favorite characters.  Everyone says he's a dick, and he is, but he's a drill sergeant-he's supposed to be to toughen up his men.  He is 100% in agreement with everything Jon does in this scene.  Love the look he gives Janos.

I love this scene for so man reasons. Not only does it cement Jon's status as truly the commander that no one can fuck with. He shows he's still compassionate but now he's learned how to follow through and do what is necessary. Loved that he hesitated but still went through with it. Really shows his growth. Also love that he indirectly got revenge for his father by killing that cowardly piece of shit

The look that Alliser gives Janos as he gets up from his seat is fantastic. He says so much with his face without saying a word..."You stupid coward, you could have lived and stayed away from any future fighting but you had to act like a big man. Well, I'm done protecting you, enjoy having your head removed asshole".

Ironic that "Ned Stark's Bastard" is the one who is most like him.

Which is ironic, in the books Sansa knew that Janos had betrayed her father and wished "some noble hero" to cut his head off. Of course, Jon didn't know it, but he fulfilled her dream!

It's great (and unnerving) to see how much Jon Snow resembles Ned Stark when he stands over Janos with sword ready to take the head.

In the book, Jon even gives Slynt the night to sleep on it and come to his senses. Slynt’s answer: “Stick your order up your bastard arse.” He even tried to pull the “I have powerful friends” thing again. Jon was a truly good guy to give his father’s traitor so many chances, in the name of the Night’s Watch.

I love how Sir Alliser steps aside while Slynt was convinced that he would defend him. That's what Slynt deserves, like when he betrayed Ned Stark and stabbed his men. 
Surely the best scene ever.

Jon raises his sword to execute Janos. Stannis watches from afar. Before Jon could striked down with his sword, an arrow hits Janos in the neck, killing him instantly. Jon looks up to see Stannis standing on a balcony... with a bow in his hand. He shouts, "Now, we're even!" then walks away.

Smart move to make Thorne 1st Ranger before dealing with Slynt. Thorne realized if he wanted his own orders obeyed, he would have enforce Jon's orders.

The look on Janos's face when Ser Alliser steps aside and lets Edd take him is priceless.
