Why The Flowing Dutchman Traveled to India | The Story

Hey guys, this is Harbert Egberts, also known as The Flowing Dutchman, and in this video I describe my initial motivation to visit India. There's been a lot of speculation online about how I learned everything I do in India, and all kinds of other myths. In this video I explain how it started for me with coaching people with a steel mace or macebell, and how this sparked my interest in this tool. Then I saw videos online about the history of the mace, and that it was actually inspired by the Gada from Varanasi, India. I planned a trip next year that covered me traveling from North to South India on a Royal Enfield Motorcycle. This was the start of an adventure of discovering, documenting, traveling, and enjoying 'my India'. Since this travel I've been coming back every year to learn more about the Gada and its techniques and history of which I have always kept my documentation on point with sharing on this Youtube channel.

I’m an Indian living in the US. I have 3 steel maces at home. It’s all started after watching your videos for the first time, a few years back. And yes, I have bought your courses too 😀

Love your videos! Because of you and Kashi Azad I now swing indian clubs, heavy club and mace. I'm currently taking your Mace 101 course and recently bought The Dutch Flow Mace. Hopefully I can come in person this year to take mace training and certification. I'm 70 and facing a few physical health challenges but I have been active and in shape my whole life. We'll see how it goes.

No doubt your good selves are an inspiration to people who love club swings and i should admit, the art of swinging clubs was almost lost in India....untill you have given life to it by spreading its knowledge, benifits and the tradition....Thank you.

I own lots of steel, and accumulating lots of handmade tools from India, yet while doing a daily swing challenge, I am ONLY using the wooden tools. I love them

Good thing about you is that you really want to experience and know about the stuff rather focusing on complaining about the people and environmental conditions given to wrestlers ..
One day I will come to netherland to meet you.
keep going... stay blessed ❤

I wonder why Indian manufacturers are so reluctant to produce a proper steel mace. Those that are available do not at all have the proper dimensions especially with the handle being so short.🙏🙏🙏

Today in a world where weight has to in accordance to the height have heard from old trainers, who swing clubs...even a 100 kg male in those days who swing club and do other training like dhands almost 3 hrs of training daily and eat a huge amout of protein rich food accordance to the workout they do...They almost look like the Lord Hanuman or Beema we have seen in the comic books or the pictures in the pooja room...totally a different physic...guess there are a lot more gains in the ancient exersises and food the chose to eat based on the training they underwent...i beleive its what they called mind and body...
