Varanasi Dangal Gada Competition ⤵️
YES, finally I’m able to post this video. One of the highlights of my last trip to India in January. @GyanIndianJori was able to organize a Dangal for us in winter time, which was amazing to witness. A lot of pehalwans came to compete in this competition, which included the gada, the jori, the Nal, and the dumbells.
For the Gada the goal was to swing as many reps as possible with 32kg. Now remember, this is not the same as a mace of 32kg. A mace is usually shorter, and has a heavier handle. The fact that a 32kg stone is just hanging off a bamboo handle makes all the difference. I do not train often with this much weight, so I can’t say I was fully prepared. However, I’m very happy with the result and the day was just amazing to witness and experience.
