I bought those Pooh earrings for my daughter’s Easter basket too! We just took her to Disneyland yesterday for the first time. She’s 5. Watching her smile and seeing that childlike wonder of the Disney magic was totally worth the overpriced everything, even standing in an hour long line to meet and greet with a couple of the Disney princesses was tolerable because she was over the moon excited.

It is about Jesus. His fleshly body died but He conquered death and rose from his tomb. It’s 3 days after He suffered for our crime and our sin. I mean, imagine you’re in a court room and about to be sentenced to death and torchered in the worst way possible, and a man comes in, completely pure, did no punishment, didn’t deserve anything bad but has absolute mercy in His eyes and says, “No! Take me instead. It’s me whom should take this death sentence” and right there, that man that is pure and has mercy in His eyes, looks at you and cries but it’s not tears of sadness it’s happiness. Tears of, “you’re going to finally be free from this world”, He gets thrown on the ground beaten in shackles and just suffers completely and just dies for a worthless criminal like us. Imagine that. In this story God is the judge and Jesus is the pure man. Ofc, we’re the criminal. Because the price of sin is death and He paid it. He literally bought our freedom with his blood, WE WERE BOUGHT WITH THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST!! DANG HE LOVES US SO MUCH. He literally thought about A WORTHLESS SINNER LIKE ME ON THAT CROSS EHEN HE WAS SUFFERING GREATLY. And even after he proved himself as the Son of God, many miracles were performed. He was still tried and beaten. He knew that he would die like this, but didn’t run away from it. I mean, on that cross when the people were just mocking Him and beating Him, He said, “Father, forgive them for they don’t know what they are doing.” If Jesus forgave them, us, for killing Him basically every day, why can’t we forgive each other? He had US in his mind, He wanted to free us. NOW THAT IS THE WONDERFUL, PURE, JUST, SAVIOR, SON OF GOD, AMAZING… etc LORD WE WORSHIP!! That is what Easter is about. Now Easter isn’t about sadness because He died, now it was devestating, I’m not saying it wasn’t sad. It’s a time for rejoice! He is RISIN!! And He has mercy in his eyes.

All those “deals” stack up. A home full of brand new “deals” is still a home full of brand new things. These videos of making a $50+ tiny basket aren’t budget friendly, that’s stupidly expensive for a one day “see… I do care” gift. Keep all those little landfill stuffers and get something quality for a birthday. Fifty here and fifty (or clearly more) there could be a piece of quality jewelry.

This isn’t saving anything, it’s how to spend just as much while fooling yourself, by buying a ton of garbage. It’s like buying fast fashion that will be garbage in 6 months and comparing it to a high quality piece, that will last forever. Why get a Chanel suit, when a plaid hoodie from Forever 21 is just about the same thing….but you can buy 200 hoodies.
