I think of Homestuck in another way.

A young man stands in his bedroom. It just so happens that today, the 13th of April, 2016 is this young man's birthday. And though it was sixteen years ago he was given life-
and he's made such a name for himself.
and we are all so, so proud of him.

One of the most torturing parts about Homestuck is that no matter how much it seems like a video game to us, if it's a game over, we don't get to play again.

A young man stands tall.
One time he was simply standing in his room.
He never felt like doing this.
He didn't even know he would be in this position a few years ago.
He wouldn't have ever assumed that his planet would be destroyed.
He left it behind them.
He and his friends played a game.
They encountered enemies.
They met new friends.
They went far...
But he weeps sad tears now.
Not happy ones.
A world of pain the size of all the worlds he's seen stands before him.
It was too much for him.
But he still stands tall.

A young troll stands in a similar matter.
He stood in his room once.
Him and a friend organized his other friends together.
No matter how infuriating things have been for them, they have gone through thick and thin.
Sometimes even more than thick or even more than thin.
Nothing has been ordinary for them.
At least for our standards.

It's too much for both the young man and the young troll.
They will meet the same fate as their now destroyed worlds.
For the only worlds they know now is pain.
It's finished for all of them.
Their groups.
You joined them once.
Mostly, you watch them.
Of course, all stories come to an end.
Which, sadly, applies for theirs too.
and this is around the end.
Its over.
Its done.
Its the end.
Its Game Over.

Its sad to think that 4 children, barely 13, had to go through so much. They missed birthdays, high school, things we take for granted. They also had to see people they loved being killed.

The Game is over, the battle won.
All this toil and now you're done.
Knight of Time and Heir of breath, Brothers in arms till the claim of Death.
Seer of Light and Witch of Space, who carved this world a lovely shape,
and all the 12 who stood so tall,
against the odds they refused to fall,
They take their rest to enjoy the now,
So chin up, its time for one last bow.

I'm just thinking about how scary it must have been to be in Davesprite's doomed timeline.
Imagine 2/3rds of your friends dying, the strangers who said that they would help you cutting off all communication, doing everything you could to try and fix the mess you and your only other friend were in for 4 months, and having come to the realization that your in a doomed timeline. The only way to get out of it is to either not exist (Rose) or travel back in time, abandoning your only friend whom you'll never see again and becoming a lesser version of yourself (Dave).

A young man stood in his bedroom. It just so happened that today, the 13th of April, was this young man’s birthday. Though it was eighteen years ago his story began, it was only five years ago he was given a name! 

But… It’s over now. You’re having trouble remembering… Who was this young man? and….

What did the name of this young man turn out to be?

Four teenagers stand in a bedroom.
Although it is 16 years ago they were given life, it is only today that they will be given names.
And those names will live on forever in our hearts.

Welp, the end of an era is coming to a close.

When the final page has been reached, let us all play this.


It is proof of a story about four kids trying to survive in a game where there's renegade agents, whole other worlds to explore, and shenanigans of all sorts. It shows that when we think we know everything about where we are, we need to venture out and discover new things for ourselves.
It is proof of a story of twelve trolls who overcame hardships, endured a fight for their lives several times, and of the moments when Hope turned dark and Rage took over completely.
It is proof that when a mistake is made, we need to do all we can to make everything restart. It won't be entirely perfect, but it can lead to a whole other story, with major and minor differences.

All in all, this is proof that people all over the world, young and old, big fans or reading just out of boredom, have been drawn together by this comic. No other webcomic does that, from all I've seen. We will never all meet, but we are all tied by this one thing. This webcomic.

We've seen when our favourite characters died. We've seen the moments when the ones we hated showed a side that makes us feel bad for them. We've laughed with them, cried for them, we've been with them every step of the way.

And now...we're saying goodbye to these great characters.

When we reach that final page, let this song be played. Let this song remind us of a great legacy.

You know every time I listen to this song I just think
Look how far we've come
Even if you just started Homestuck yesterday
We've gone from a kid standing in his room on his birthday to that kid with all of his new and old friends
about to fight a very powerful enemy
then it's all going to end
And the ones who never read it or think it's stupid will never know how inspirational and so many different feelings it really was
And one day we'll all forget about this fandom
But someone will remember it, look back and tell others about it
The Homestuck fandom will then return and may live on for many years to come
And when I think about that all I can do is smile

I may be young but homestuck help me in life and now that its almost over I can't help but remember all the good times, I had cost play acting and even having real friend but I know, I can always read it again and again but it will never be the same because the first time is the best time, I love you homestuck and I say to all the shipping I love them all. I will miss you homestuck good day.
