Hey guys, in this video, I discuss everything you need to know about product changing. A lot of people think that if you have a card you don't use anymore or it is costing you money to hold every year that the only way to solve that is to cancel your card, but that's not the case! Product changing is one of the most underrated tools in the credit card game, not just for preserving the credit history on your oldest credit cards, but also to farm welcome bonuses as well!

In this video, I cover what a product change is, why you would want to do it, how you can do it, and a personal example I went through in the last couple of weeks product changing from my Chase Freedom Student to the OG Chase Freedom card. I hope this video helps you strategically product change in the future!

Yeah definitely agree with you that you should avoid cancelling cards, especially older cards, to avoid hurting your credit score. Instead, if you don't want to continue paying high fees or simply don't get value in a certain Card anymore, then Product Changing is definitely a better option! Congrats on 1K bro!

Fantastic video on product changes Spencer! The technique of upgrading, downgrading, and PC'ing sideways are all great advanced strategies that can have A LOT of upside potential, with exceptions, as you mentioned. The main technique that I use personally is downgrading annual fee cards to no annual fee cards when my spending habits change. Thanks for giving a personal example - definitely drives the point home very well! Also, congrats on 1K 🎉🎉!!

I almost made the mistake of canceling my $39 AF Capital One Quicksilver. I instead upgraded it to a Savor card when it was 3% back from dining (No AF) about a week before they upgraded it to 4% back from dining (With $95 AF). I was grandfathered in from paying the $95. 😁 Great video Spencer!

I love the hook at the beginning of this video!

I actually never product changed a card before but I recently downgraded for the first time!

I downgraded the Amex green to the… well Amex green. From $150 annual fee to just $55. Got the traditional one now.

Congrats again on 1k, and very great video. I didn’t know about the whole 2 year maybe won’t get the annual fee reimbursed. I’ll have to watch out for that.

Oh, I didn't know there was a soft pull for product changes, but also at the same time, like you said, doesn't really matter. And I've never heard of the 2 year thing; interesting.

Great video, Spencer! I’ve been thinking about product changing my Capital One Quicksilver card because I’m planning to get the Chase Freedom Unlimited later this year. I would like to change the Quicksilver card to the SavorOne card, however Capital One will only allow me to product change to the Venture or the VentureOne card. So I think I’m just going to stick with the Quicksilver card for a while. It looks like I’ll have to apply for the SavorOne card to get it, so I will probably do that when I’m back over 5/24 again. You made a good choice to upgrade your Freedom Student card to the OG Freedom card! Honestly, you’re now getting the same benefits of the Freedom Flex with both the Freedom Unlimited and the OG Freedom.

hey spencer! great informative video! i was just curious if there’s anything else we should look out for? i wanna downgrade my freedom unlimited into the og freedom, but was curious if there’s any timing involved that i should look out for? my freedom unlimited hits it’s 2 year mark here in october and my goal is to reapply and get another bonus with it. Is there any timing involved with this or does it really matter? thank you in advance!

great video!! i have to wait a year before i can product change my chase freedom student to another card so im debating whether or not i should wait and product change or just apply for the freedom unlimited when i'm ready. the welcome offer on the freedom unlimited is nice so i would hate to miss out on it. love your videos as always!!

Wait a second, the bass in your background music sounds awesome on my sound bar setup 😃. Don’t throw that emoji on Discover like that, I feel attacked 🤣🤣. Product changing to become eligible for a sign up bonus again is a very smart decision, at the same time, ensuring not to cheat yourself out of a welcome bonus is important too! Luckily, I haven’t needed to product change my card as yet. Good job on product changing to the OG Freedom card. I didn’t realize that this was still an option. Excellent video Spencer 👍🏾.

Sup Spence, Great Video!!! I had no clue we had to wait a year for a product change. Thanks for informing me. I also have the Chase Freedom Student half decent starter card but useless within my current credit state. I've been thinking of product changing it to an OG Freedom after the year's out, but if I haven't received the Unlimited or the Flex. Would you suggest I apply for one of them first to receive that welcome, or the OG freedom doesn't conflict with those welcome bonuses?

Can you product change to Chase Freedom flex to Chase sapphire Reserve or Preferred?

Great video per usual! Just had some questions on the chase cards. Are you saying that if I have a chase unlimited card that I can product change to the OG chase freedom, then reapply for the chase unlimited as long as it has been over 2 years since I got the bonus for the chase unlimited? And I can do this with the chase flex as well? So there is no limit to how many of the same card I have with chase? Also I know that some companies only give out certain credit limits across all your cards. Is there a limit to chases for how much they give? I heard something like they don’t want to give out more than half of what you make for your job. Lastly, I know you mentioned that the chase preferred reward of 80, 000 may be coming back. If it does, how long does it typically last for. Might be rethinking my chase applications of that bonus stays long enough for me to drop out of 5/24 in the summer. Thanks again and enjoy watching your videos!
