Yea, if you cut the band aid do it BEFORE peeling off the protective cover. Touching the gauze portion will cause bacteria and infection as you are then HOLDING IT against an opening in your body.

I recommend that you cut it WITH the protective white cover because, according to the other comments you could contaminate that cut. And you’ll have a hard time cutting it without the protective cover because it’s a little sticky or it probably depends what
band-aid you’re using. And make sure you rinse the cut with
