What are Heat pipes? How do computers stay cool? How do heat pipes work? Well, let's get into the history and science behind heat pipes, all the way from the first patent in the 1800's by Angier March Perkins and his descendant Jacob Perkins, R.S Gaugler and finally to George M. Grover. Then we get to the applications of heat pipes like how they are being used in the alaskan pipelines to keep it safe. We have an awesome demonstration of the effectiveness of the thermal transfer and thermal dissipation of a copper heat pipe by melting an ice cube with nothing but my body heat! (and comparing that with a similar sized copper rod. Science experiments are awesome! Let's go!
