Florida sheriff rescues teen from floodwaters after Hurricane Milton

Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister and the marine unit rescued a 14-year-old boy who was found submerged in floodwaters and floating on debris after Hurricane Milton.

i THINK i know this guy. He was saying everything in a live group chat

He said that he was attempting to get to a shelter when the worst had hit after a tornado blew his roof open, which was only being covered by a tarp due to damage. He then got swept away by the storm surge. This is a message he sent me:

“I really don’t know why I’m just casually typing this but I am literally on a fence right now and water is up to my stomach”

I kept motivating him to not stop trying, he said that his phone service was extremely bad. Rain was pounding on him, and the entire time he remained strong.

He has said that he is with his family again at a hurricane shelter.

Way to go, kid. I’m damn proud of you.

Maybe Floridians are different, but I'd be terrified of alligators and snakes even if the water is only waist high. And this boy looks all of maybe 12?

They are right n the river…. I used to live near there…. It’s normally riding high anyway, doesn’t take much, but that’s pretty nasty. My folks live just outside Tampa… they got wiped out… they won’t have power for indefinite amount of time. Glad this lil guy has a chance
