Separation is sorrow...
― Little Sea, lyrics
Christiana Papakosta, an inspiring vocalist and ancient bendir player sing for us the traditional melody "Chamemilon", a song about the sorrow of separation visualized by the Greeks as the eternal come-and-go relationship between the ever-moving salted water of the sea and the always-there seashore.
The melody is written by Antonis Apergis (original title: Θαλασσάκι μου), with the music heavily based on the traditional song "Μανώλαρες" of the Skiros Island, while the lyrics are quite common in many different islands located all over the Aegean Sea.
Christiana plays on a one-of-a-kind LUTHIEROS Bendir (ancient frame-drum), beautifully painted by hand using ink on its leather drumhead. In many cultures, larger frame drums were played mainly in spiritual ceremonies.

// 🎼 Lyrics in Greek
