Keloids are areas of scars that are thick and eventually grow outside of the linear border of the scar. While they're not dangerous, they can be frustrating and often aesthetically undesirable. The way that we treat keloids if a patient forms them post-op, is by referring them to a dermatologist who will inject steroids into the keloids to properly treat them. If this doesn't work there are other treatment options, and the very last option would be to surgically remove it and use a radiation treatment to ensure it doesn't come back.
