Where do you start with the first “picket”? Did you measure 4 inches in from the post? Or do you do measurements and make them all equidistance?

I’m really struggling with accurate angle cuts. Any tips on how to improve there? I had one cut I use 4 pieces of lumber bc it kept being too small. Several others I have to go back a half dozen times to trim them down.

My gate openings are on a slope, running downhill along the face of the fence. Debating whether the gates should be level (and make a square) or run along the slope (and make a parallelogram). A square gate would look tidy, but it’s horizontal rails wouldn’t visually meet the rails from the adjacent fence portions. A parallelogram gate would nicely follow the slope (like the rest of the fence), and its horizontal rails would visually meet the rails from the adjacent fence. Also thinking about functionality, my guess is that square gate would be better balanced, and that a parallelogram gate may be more inclined to shut (or swing open, depending on which side the hinges are on). Anyways, did you consider this when making yours?

Great video... I was trying to find a video on building a fence on a cruve like this... But my wife wants only horizontal wood design instead of the vertical wood lines... And she wants the wood to be outside the post instead of putting it inside the post like u did... Do u have any tricks or tips on doin that?

Is the picket spacer you used a 2x4? So the spacing is actually 3.5 inches? Or is it a full 4?
