Overwatch 2 Will Fail Without This

Overwatch 2 is about 1 month away from releasing. Overwatch is the best game ever made so I really want it to succeed. But it can fail unless it addresses some major problems. From lack of content to an uncertain future- let's talk about how Overwatch can save itself.

I feel like Overwatch 2 PvP is too little, too late. The beta was fun for about an hour or so, and then it just made me miss when OW 1 was constantly getting new, awesome stuff.

I remember the old days when you would get into a game be able to select any character any roll. In quick play you could for example go into attack on 66 you’d either win or lose, then you’d instantly be out onto the opposing side. No need for a 10 minute wait for a new game.

I think that it will be okay. Maybe not optimal, but it will be fun and playable. Overwatch is still playable right now. Sure there are less players, but matchmaking is not at its worst.
Overwatch had a huge playerbase when the game was $40, and now OW2 is gonna be free. So itll attract new players easily.
Retaining them is a different story.
However, with 5v5, it will stretch the playerbase. Matchmaking will be shorter even if we have an identical playerbase, since you need to match 10 players instead of 12.
I have HIGH hopes for Overwatch 2, but even my pessimistic view isn’t awful

I don't like the comp changes of SR, at least, I like to know when I'm gonna rank up or derank. Also I think having role queue and open queue is nice, I don't mind having different ranks for each role.

Not sure if you've been watching Nateson, but blizzard has been stumbling and falling for a long time with both WoW and Diablo now. Just because they have some of those devs working on the PvE that really doesn't give me any hope.

i agree except with role queue tbh, it gave me so much anxiety every game that i could just get 5 dps mains who wouldnt switch etc, 2-2-2 just plays better unless its a coordinated team. If they add a team stack (which they should, blizzard.) it should be open queue as a stack will be more coordinated and allowed to have more creativity

I wholeheartedly disagree with removing the limits on playing with friends in high elo, gms can only duo queue and I think this is right, before this was added thered be 6 stacks of gms highly coordinated vs 6 solo queue gms where half aren't in chat and the 6 stack would quite literally farm sr and boost their sr to be in the top 50 or even 10 and it was kind of just artificial, vsing these 6 stacks was insanely difficult when you have random other gms you don't know or play with often and don't have or know what synergies you have with them so it was just insanely hard to win, after it became duos only it became alot better to solo queue because you wouldn't vs insanely coordinated teams and its just more fair, lower elo than gm its a non issue except in masters where it sometimes can be a problem but its not as bad which is why its only like that for gm

Nate I literally have a 6 stack that places total mayhem every time it's available.

We enjoy that mode most and would probably never touch the game again if it's gone.

There is a big chunk of the community who feels the same way.

I hope they keep arcade and total mayhem in OW2.

Are we not gonna talk about how 5v5 balancing completely destroys Deathmatch? Now tanks are super buffed because you’re supposed to have one tank in a team compared to dps and healers. So Tanks by default are extra powerful which makes Deathmatch absolute unfair for dps and healers.

I think the main reason people make alts is because it bypassed hundreds of hours of grinding to climb. Once blizzard thinks it knows your rank, it tries to keep you there, and it takes lots of grinding to rank up. A fresh account will instantly place higher. Even if it's inflating your rank that just means theres incentive to keep getting a fresh account. They need to find a balance between fresh placements, and old placements, so there's not a huge incentive to get a fresh account.

We need a short cool storyline for each character. Maybe 3-4 missions. During which different characters come and help on each mission. Then more storylines released as time goes on. Also, a sense of progression should be achieved as you unlock upgrades for whatever characters storyline you are choosing which progress through each mission.

Lucio ball needs to be a permanent game mode. Maybe include other characters as well to mix up experience.

you should be able to have an agree system to switch roles with teammates mid game, still should be able to queue into your preferred role though

I absolutely love D2 for their storytelling and in-depth lore. If OW2 manages to pull off a PvE campaign/repeatable mission similar to Destiny's events and seasons, that would be a dream come true for me.

for que times only problem is that there is 20 dps and few support and tanks, they need to stop making dps and the next 15 heroes should be supports and tanks.

I don't know if anyone else has said anything about this, but I really want the old Lucio ball back, without the new stupid maps and without the new ball fysics, I remember when you as a goalkeeper could just play badminton with the other goalkeeper. The summer was honestly the only time of year I played OW before the changes.
