A rare outburst of emotion from an official in the Danish first division as a referee drops to his knees after failing to give an advantage. Playing away to Vendsyssel FF, FC Fredericia were on the break after winning the ball in midfield, only for the ref to blow his whistle just as they created a goalscoring opportunity. After realising his mistake, the referee puts his head in hands then drops down to his knees, and the game finished 1-1.

Most refs won't admit their mistakes but he's not just admitting it but doing do publicly so all can see. That's very admirable.

This reaction is like remembering the answer to a question a second after I submit my exam paper .

Fair play to him for showing he’d made a mistake, who would be a ref

He didn't just own his mistake. He raised it, took it in as one of his own and taught it how to play piano

It’s amazing how an immediate and simple admission of the mistake turns the affected players from angry to understanding. There are lessons to be learned here.

Honesty. Admitting to mistakes. Humanity. We appreciate that.

Ref reaction = Pep Guardiola whenever Sterling misses an open goal

Fair play to him, in our league the referee makes a "mistake" on purpose and still has the balls to say he was right.

A genuine football man, people respect honesty.

Haha, refs are just as human as the players and have a difficult job. They should get more praise and support than they do.

I love this. One of the biggest problems with refs in the English game is that they don't seem to have to recognise when they make mistakes. This ref not only recognises his mistake but it bothers him. It bothers him that he made the mistake. That shows integrity imo. Fair play.

Admitting mistakes when in authority is one of the hardest things... Kudos to him... He deserves all the respect...

At least he knows he made a mistake and will keep this in mind in the next matches some referee's won't even bother cause of their big ego

Great act from the referee and great act too from both players, as to say "don't worry, it happens".

Ref made a mistake but I love his humility. No ego at all. Attacker missed the shot anyway. No harm done.

Fair play to the ref, had the balls to show his emotion and admit his mistake. An honest man can't be faulted. 👍🏼

Props for him to admit the mistake, props to the players that consoled him, props to the people that applaud the situation. Wonderful moment right there

You can NOT be mad at someone if he does something like this. that was so genuine. you dont see anything like this too often.

Thats pretty cruel. He was sure the number 3 had the ball so advantage was lost but it slipped by and fell nicely to the striker by which time he had already committed to the whistle to bring the ball back. With that said he's still admitting it as a mistake. Hats off to him

As a ref, this man is very admirable. Wish more were like him.
