Your opinions are always spot on. It's crazy how people get so heated about it.

Here’s my thing I see your point but at any point PSA could go out of business. They have a lot of lower end competitors who do it cheaper. The way I see it there is a finite amount of vintage (1996-2010) left in existence and only a handful of them come back 10-8. My point is there is value in a PSA slab much higher than a booster box considering pull rates, price, conditions. There’s no guarantee that they were stored properly or conditions on cards could be damaged.

I love slabs. For example I really like they sound they make when I crack them for my binder

Thank you. For clarifying different levels and reasons for collecting. I started collecting with my son years ago. He’s past it but I still collect. I enjoy the art and the idea of completing full sets. I get excited when new sets come out and I also collect for past sets, as the prices get reasonable. Thanks for being straight up and honest!!!❤

I really enjoyed Jake's live stream and was happy to see you on Alex. I almost stopped watching though when Jake's irritation levels went through the roof. Fortunately, you kept your cool and so did Ray and Retro. The only disagreement I have with you Alex is that slabs are guaranteed to go up in the population. There's a very real possibility certain cards with less than 100 pops will disappear over the decades. My dad had a $200k vintage Hot Wheels collection foolishly stored in his garage. Five years ago his garage started on fire after a chemical explosion, destroying 1/3 of his house and his entire garage as well as his entire Hot Wheels collection. Some slabs will disappear. Other than that keep up the videos and major props for keeping your cool during the middle portion of Jake's stream. You seem like a super awesome guy and I'm proud to subscribe to your channel.

30th Anniversary is only around the corner, I think if your not an investor then collect what you like. I personally don't see the point of spending hundreds or thousands on something that wont give you your best return down the track if it's a long hold. I agree everything eventually appreciates and I to collect modern sealed boxes, though where they used to appreciate nicely in value within a year now we are seeing 2-3 years for decent return excluding some outliers like Evolving Skies.
I understand your argument better now, new "investors" should take the safe path in modern sealed until they learn what's what and that does take time. I compare this to what happened during the Pandemic when new collectors doubled in numbers and all went straight for Base Set not understanding that though it was the OG, it was also the most heavily printed set to date, so prices went up and straight back down as those new collectors realized this truth. I Subbed you mate!

Perfectly explained. I think the biggest reason which you pointed out is, slabs are ALWAYS increasing in population where as sealed is ALWAYS decreasing. Slab population will only slow down when a product becomes scarce at which point sealed product is king anyways. You can get lucky as you said with slabs, I bought burning shadows rainbow zard psa10 for $500 AUD on release it's now $4k 6 years later because no one predicted the bad quality control from that set to produce such small amounts of gem mints. I believe that's a very rare situation though. You should collect what you like if you don't care about returns on slabs. Sealed modern is definitely king atm in terms of almost guaranteed percentage growth vs any other investment. Great information brother keep telling it how it is! 👍👍

I just like to keep things simple: If I can get it at a good entry point and I determine to have good appreciation potential for a any set amount of time I choose, then I'll pick it up. Doesn't matter if its a raw card, slabbed card, sealed product, or whatever, I'll pick it up.

I loved it haha people hate your opinions. Do you. I hate sealed period but if it works out for you I'd still be happy for you

Love it! Seems like people aren’t really listening to you sometimes, even on that live stream. Jake seems to just hear what he wants. What you say makes so much sense.

Gotta have the first 2 booster box of One Piece TCG🚀. Thanks Alex for the knowledge. Sealed product. Most of the Sword & Shield Booster box are going up. Supply and demand.

I think this was one of your better videos Alex. You articulated the benefits and risks of different approaches well and left some reasonable middle ground.

nice video, i'm currently buying psa10 slabs of japan like from set vstar universe to 151 popular art cards the reason is because they dropped so much like 5 to 10x down they are very cheap to buy now

Subscribed ! Great video, I do collect sealed product, mainly vintage but like the modern cards also. You’re dead right about the booster boxes gaining value almost 100% of the time, it’s pretty blatant 😂

I think i mostly agree with everything you said but here are a few of my takes. I do completely agree that unopened are the least risky vs largest reward (it's because if you have 5 unopened boxes of a set you know not all boxes will have the best cards in it BUT you can sell them like they DO/MIGHT have the best cards in them) (the gambler's premium). The downside to unopen boxes is you never know how many are out there (there could be warehouses stored of a set for all you know) with slabs you know how many exist. I also think the barrier for entry for unopened boxes is pretty low (anyone can buy boxes) so it's a double edged sword. I don't invest in modern psa (i think owning them for investment is crazy, own them if you love the card). I personally own either unopened boxes or black label modern cards (usually black labels have a less then 3% chance of being produced and ultimately (like you said) the people with money want's the premium best of the best. Black labels currently are down (not rising like unopened boxes) but I still believe they are good investment and you can get them for much cheaper now (dollar cost averaging) and when (in 5 or 10 years) theres a surge, black labels will skyrocket.
