Im asian and i never heard my mom say sorry to me. She would rather cook me something, comb my hair, or buy me a snack. Now that i am a mom myself, i make sure i say "sorry" to my daughter when i know i hurt her. Because i really wished my mom had said it too when i was little.

Watching this video I realize how sweet my mom is, when she makes a mistake whether if is being rude/ losing her calm or doing something that hurts me she apologizes right away. Sometimes when she's nervous she waits untill she's calm and then she talks to me and my sisters and apologize. Yk I used to complain a lot because she didn't love me exactly as I wanted her to ( like more physical touch, affection, words of affirmation) but now I see that she shows me she loves me everyday in her own way ❤️ My grandma lived in an orphanage/boarding school and didn't have parents to take care of her, only her grandparents. She didn't know how to express love to my mom and my aunt while they were growing up, but she took care of them and did the best she could to give the best she never had. As I'm growing up, thanks to God I'm starting to understand that I couldn't require something from my mom that she didn't have to give and instead, now I'm trying to be the change I want to see in my family. I'm showing love to both my grandma and mom and I'm quite determined to create a new family habit of saying: "I love you". For five generations now we couldn't say those words to each other. But now this is going to change ❤

My ma always said sorry, always said i love you, always paid attention to me, but i was too embarassed to say that to everyone i loved before. After she passed away, im finally getting married and have children, and i made sure from the day 1 to show them how i felt and teach them to show how they felt. These kinda things really need to be taught and learnt from the parents IMHO.

I'm an Asian and I'd like to add, that my mom actually acknowledges her mistakes and apologises. Even for minor issues. She's so great that I'm like you don't ever need to apologise. ❤

I hope the next generation of parents will learn how to apologize to their children. I know this is just a skit and a universal experience among some people, it instills this idea that apologizing shows weakness. Offering food does not solve the underlying issue--it's just a bribe. There's no acknowledgement of hurt, of being wrong. Sorry for being a downer lol
